Greenbank is in a fantastic location on the shores of Loch Goil, with stunning waterfront views and beyond to the Arrochar Alps. This Victorian house, with spacious rooms and high ceilings, retains many original features yet has the benefit of modern bathrooms and kitchen. With space to sleep up to ten people in six lovely bedrooms, Greenbank is the perfect holiday home for extended families and groups of friends.
Lochgoilhead is a hidden gem: well-known by friendly locals but off the busy tourist trail. In the past Victorian holidaymakers, like those who would have stayed at Greenbank when it was new, would have arrived by steamer boat from Glasgow. Today, this picturesque small village is at the end of a scenic road down from the Rest and Be Thankful viewpoint. A big attraction of the house is that it is a perfect place to relax and unwind and has all the essential amenities, such as the village shop and the Goil Inn just steps away. With superb opportunities for outdoor pursuits from the doorstep this is an ideal retreat for active people.
The village is in the beautiful Argyll Forest and part of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The landscape has something for everyone including mountains to climb, lochs to fish, and glens to roam. Within the village there are walks to suit all energy levels, from the strenuous hike up The Steeple just behind the house, to the easy stroll along the river Goil. Children will love the walk up to the Donich waterfalls and the lovely trails around the Cormonachan Woodlands with its squirrel hide. Visitors can also explore the loch itself by boat, kayak or paddle-board, all of which can be hired in the village. Other amenities within the village include a 9-hole golf course, bike hire and a 25m indoor pool with spa.
Local attractions include Loch Lomond, the picturesque village and castle at Inveraray and the Benmore Botanical Gardens near Dunoon. Oban, Glencoe and Glasgow are further afield but still within reach for a day out, as are Kilchurn Castle on Loch Awe and the Hollow Mountain at Cruachan.
At the end of a busy day full of sightseeing and adventure, Greenbank will welcome you back, inviting guests to sit and enjoy a barbecue in the garden on long summer evenings or a board game for a cosy winter evening in front of the fire.
