Stable Cottage is an attractive converted barn with period features attached to a comfortable eighteenth century farmhouse on the edge of the beautiful Vale of Belvoir overlooking a lovely garden which guests are free to use. Situated midway between A1 and M1 and only thirty minutes from Grantham, Nottingham, Loughborough and Leicester. There are many historic buildings within a short drive (Belvoir Castle and Belton House amongst others) as are the National Space Centre in Leicester and the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepoint Country Park this side of Nottingham. Also as close is the lovely town of Oakham and the magical Rutland Water reservoir with bird and butterfly sanctuaries. Geoff Hamilton's Barnsdale TV Gardens are nearby there too. When they get here guests find there is much more to do than they thought!
Long Clawson is also home to the well known Stilton cheese maker Long Clawson Dairy a one hundred and ten year old dairy farmers co-operative business which sells cheese worldwide. Stilton can only be made in the counties of Leicestershire Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire and there are several diaries making it locally so there is quite a variety. Melton Mowbray is called the Rural Capital of Food and holds several food festivals during the year of which the Pork Pie Festival is the most popular as it is the home of the renowned Melton Mowbray Pork Pie instantly recognisable from pies made elsewhere. There is lots to enjoy.
