A home-away-from-home stay on the shores of Loch Aline
Experience the peace of Ardtornish and find a connection with nature when you stay with us in The Boat House.
With views stretching down Loch Aline to the west and towards Kinlochaline Castle to the east, The Boat House is a traditional stone and slate building and is the perfect home-away-from-home stay for those looking for tranquility and immersion in Scotland's wild nature.
In the summer months you can open up the patio doors and soak up the sunshine on the terrace, watching the boats pass by on the Loch. On a stormy, winter day, there is nothing cosier than stoking up the log burner and settling down with a book and a wee dram while the high tide laps just outside the window.
What to expect in The Boat House ...
The open plan, split level living/room diner is centralised around a log-burner and the french patio doors open out onto a Loch view terrace.
The property had a brand new kitchen installed in March 2024, fully equipped with washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave.
Bedrooms three comprise of a king-size with shower ensuite, a single room and a bunkroom. There is a seperate, modern bathroom with a shower-over-bath.
A stay in The Boat House includes super fast Starlink WiFi, linen & towels, books & games, a starter pack of logs & kindling and cleaning essentials.

The Local Area
The Boat House is situated at Ardtornish, 3 miles from the village of Lochaline on Scotland's West Coast.
Ardtornish is a working landscape; we have Hydro Schemes, a Gift & Farm Shop, Kitchen Garden and Wildlife Hide, plus endless space for rambles, cycles, wildlife watching and dog-walking. Homemade ready meals, prepared with Ardtornish produce, are available to pre-order from The Farm Shop and can be waiting for you in the property upon arrival.
Local activity providers offer mountain biking, paddleboarding, kayaking/canoeing, wildllife watching tours, boat tours and guided wild swimming.
The local village features an award winning Restaurant, The Whitehouse and there are plenty of other options to dine out a little further afield in Strontian, Kingairloch, Acharacle and Ardgour.
The Morvern Peninsula and neighbouring Ardnamurchan have one of the most highly density populated areas for Golden Eagle, Sea Eagle, Otter and Pine Martin in Scotland, making the area a paradise for wildlife lovers.
Fancy a trip to the Isle of Mull? The Lochaline to Fishnish Ferry runs from the local village, taking both cars and passengers. It would take 1 hour to walk from The Boat House to the Ferry Terminal.
