Yew Tree Barn is a stylish conversion of an old barn on the Welsh Borders, within easy reach of the Wye Valley and the Brecon Beacons National Park. High ceilings, spacious rooms and beautiful furnishings make the building feel warm and welcoming so that your time here will be as much of a treasured memory as any other part of your holiday. The three-bedroom property has space for up to seven people with a layout that makes it perfect for families or friends. The house opens onto 23-acre Garway Common and is within walking distance of the friendly Garway Moon Inn - what more could you ask for from a self-catering cottage in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside!
Herefordshire is the ideal choice for people who want the best of town and country. The barn is within easy reach of Hereford, an ancient market town with a historic cathedral at its centre. Wander through the old cattle market, now home to an array of modern shops and restaurants, before meandering through the lanes to the cathedral which houses the treasured Mappa Mundi, or browse independent shops before stopping for a restorative cup of tea or a pint of cider - something Herefordians have been proudly producing for centuries.
The River Wye flows through this valley, lending its name to both Hay-on-Wye and Ross-on-Wye. Both are excellent locations for a day of sightseeing, shopping and eating, with nearby alternatives including Ludlow, Monmouth, Abergavenny and Ledbury. The peaceful countryside you see today was once a hotly contested border country, the legacy of which remains in Skenfrith Castle and Eastnor Castle. Other historic sites include the Knights Templar Church in Garway, and St Bartholomew's Church in the tiny hamlet of Richards Castle.
The landscape around Yew Tree Barn is stunning in every season. Symonds Yat and the Forest of Dean are a particular favourite in autumn, although those coming to kayak down the Wye River may want to do so when the weather is warmer. Footpaths and mountain bike trails are plentiful and there are local companies with whom you can arrange bike hire if necessary. Country communities are known for their calendar of events. Herefordshire and the surrounding region have festivals including the Abergavenny Food Festival, Hay on Wye Literary Festival, not to mention The Royal Three Counties Show each year in Malvern and the Great Welsh Show.
Herefordshire has something to keep everyone happy regardless of their age or interests. The owners of Yew Tree Barn have created a place where you can relax completely and enjoy spending time doing things you enjoy with the people you love the most.
