Mill Cottage is a peaceful rural getaway in the Herefordshire village of Llangrove. Built from local stone with a beautifully renovated interior, it's ideal for couples or individuals, including those with a dog, who enjoy scenic rural views, fantastic footpaths, and little or no light pollution. The village pub, The Royal Arms, is a short walk from the self-catering cottage, as is the village hall and the popular Great Trewen Milk Shed vending machine where you can buy farm-fresh milk, eggs, butter, and cakes.
Llangrove is a traditional English village on the edge of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, around 16 miles or half an hour's drive south of Hereford. It's changed little over the decades, with key buildings like the school and the pub appearing as they were in the early 20th Century. Although short breaks at the cottage are possible, you'll want to stay as long as possible to explore the wonderful countryside with its miles of footpaths and cycling routes. Walkers can follow Offa's Dyke Path and local paths to Goodrich Castle, Monmouth, and Ross-on-Wye. Mountain bikers are close to the trails of the Forest of Dean, the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains.
Hereford is an excellent choice for a day of shopping and sightseeing. Spend a relaxing hour in the cathedral, which houses some impressive tombs and memorials and the medieval Mappa Mundi and a 17th Century chained library. Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye have supermarkets and other shops, restaurants and amenities, or drive half an hour to Abergavenny for the market on Tuesday, Friday or Saturday. Local attractions include Clearwell Caves, Puzzlewood, Chepstow Castle, and Tintern Abbey. The Malvern Hills are half an hour away, Worcester, Gloucester, and Cheltenham are all an hour's drive or less, and the western part of the Cotswolds is not much further.
Mill Cottage is available for self-catering holidays in Herefordshire all year round.
