Crossways Cottage has everything you'd love from a holiday cottage country break. From the outside, it is an attractive chocolate-box style traditional cottage built in 1850, which is nestled into the hillside on a large, private, detached plot. It has three bedrooms composed of 2 king sized and 1 double. All have very comfy beds, and crisp white linens to snuggle into. All bedrooms have televisions. Coming to the communal areas, the kitchen diner has everything you need to whip up and serve family meals, and a Nespresso machine for your morning coffee. The cosy lounge, which boasts 4 windows making it a lovely light space, is furnished with comfy sofas and log burner - perfect for warming up after a good winter walk. Further amenities include a utility room with washing machine and tumble drier, and a good sized entrance hall. For the warmer months, there is a large, enclosed patio with views over the Wye Valley. Leading from this is a garden with further seating areas, pond and summerhouse. Up some steps, with even better views, is a hot tub which is available for guests to hire. Fully enclosed on two sides, but open on the other 2, it offers full privacy and is the cherry on the cake for many guests!
Local outdoors activities within walking distance include bike hire, canoe and SUP hire, crazy golf, archery and plenty of walks for those who prefer a gentle riverside amble, to more challenging ascents to King Arthur's Cave and the iconic Yat Rock viewpoint. The Royal Forest of Dean is a 10 minute drive away and offers great family cycling, 3 high ropes courses, Clearwell Caves, Puzzlewood and opportunities to unearth the Forest's historic mining past. Golf and fishing opportunities are also available locally. If a tipple is your thing, we are on the edge of the Cider Trail, and also have many local vineyards offering tours and tastings of their excellent wines.
In under an hour by car, you can reach the Cotswolds, Brecon Beacons (Waterfall Country), Black Mountains and the South Wales Coastal Path. If you prefer towns, we have Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye which are both historic market towns offering many independent shops. Slightly further afield are the 3 Cathedral cities of Hereford, Gloucester and Worcester. Bristol and Cardiff can also be reached within the hour. For general travel, we are located 2 minutes from the A40 which gives easy access to the M4, M50 and M5.
Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth are the 2 local towns, both only 10 minutes drive. Both have a variety of supermarkets and other shops, leisure centres and local artisan gift shops and some great cafes!

Downstairs:
The front door is accessed by 3 steps and leads into a spacious hallway.
Leading to the left is the kitchen diner. Straight on is a utility with washing machine and tumble dryer. To the right, down one step, is the downstairs double bedroom which has a dual aspect with country views and a small wardrobe. Further from this bedroom is a small hallway, another entrance door and a WC and small wash basin.
Back to the kitchen diner is a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, hob and double oven, a 60/40 fridge freezer, microwave and everything you'd expect to find in a standard kitchen.
The dining table is a bench style, seating 6.
Up one step from the kitchen is a lounge with 3 seater and 2 seater sofas, a large footstool and a couple of chairs, television and log burner.
Back to the kitchen is the open stairway.
Upstairs:
At the top of the stairs, turn left into the front bedroom which is a spacious king and the bedroom most suited to those using the travel cot. There is a built-in double wardrobe and 3 sets of drawers. It has 2 windows offering light and country lane views.
To the right of the stairs is an open study area with 3 seater sofa and antique writing desk. A large window offers countryside views.
To the rear of the study area is a shower room with shower, sink and WC.
To the side of the study area is the master bedroom with full ensuite bathroom and shower attachment. The bedroom has a king bed, 2 large built-in wardrobes and 2 sets of built-in drawers. Two large windows offer dual aspect far reaching valley and countryside views.
Outside:
Directly outside the front door is a private, enclosed patio area with comfortable furnishings for 6 people to relax or dine, a BBQ, outside kitchen and a pizza oven. There is a large lockable wooden gate leading to the front of the cottage, with an iron gate leading onto Ashes Lane. At the other end of the patio, a further wooden gate leads to a lower garden with flower and shrub beds, a summer house, pond, and further patio furniture.
Back to the patio area, a step to the side of the cottage leads to a flight of steps where the hot tub can be found. This is fully covered, private on two sides and has private open views from the other 2 sides.
Leading from the hot tub area is a full height, enclosed gate leaading to a concrete parkng area for 2 cars.
