Tuolumne Cottage is a rural retreat at the base of the Clwydian Mountains in Denbighshire. It's the ideal spot for anyone who's feeling overwhelmed or stressed by the frenetic pace of a modern lifestyle and who wants to slow down without sacrificing comfort to get away from it all. The contemporary holiday cottage is surprisingly spacious with a bedroom upstairs consisting of one double bed and a Murphy pull down double bed in the lounge creating a second bedroom when required. Its clever layout provides room for four people, plus two infants, so it's as welcoming for families as for couples. Tuolumne Cottage is only 10-minutes from the A55, so it's easy to get out and explore. Still, its location on a quiet country lane in Waen, with very little passing traffic, means it's incredibly tranquil.
One of the most sought-after requirements for a self-catering holiday is an excellent pub within walking distance. The Dinorben Arms is about a 25-minute walk - far enough to build your appetite but not so far that you're ravenous by the time you arrive. The county town of Denbigh is only five miles from the cottage, with a choice of supermarkets, cafes, pubs, and other amenities. There are layers of history to discover, including the ruins of a medieval castle, built by one of Edward I's favourites and later gifted by Elizabeth I to her rumoured paramour, Robert Dudley. Treat yourself to a stroll around the market town to admire beautiful buildings and spectacular views of the surrounding countryside or get the keys from the castle to the hidden towns walls and explore the secrets that lie behind them.
North Wales is renowned for the beauty of its scenery and the diversity of its footpaths, bridleways, mountain bike trails, and cycling routes. Offa's Dyke long-distance footpath is within easy reach, as are the Hiraethog Hills. Prestatyn and the North Wales coast, Conwy and the Snowdonia National Park are half an hour's drive away, meaning you certainly are spoiled for choice when it comes to planning your route. You don't need to stick with rural pleasures when you stay at Tuolumne Cottage. The Roman town of Chester is about 40 minutes from the cottage, and you can get to Liverpool in about an hour.
Guests love the owner's attention to detail which makes them feel welcome as they walk through the door, the spectacular views and the clarity of the night sky, and the convenience of being so close to everything you will want to see and do.
