Northborough Manor Gatehouse sleeps up to eight guests in four bedrooms and provides the perfect place for enjoying time away with friends and family. Sitting on the outskirts of the historic Cambridgeshire village of Northborough, this attractive holiday home is conveniently located just seven miles from Peterborough and eight miles from Stamford, making it easily accessible for a few nights away of relaxation or celebration.
Recently refurbished, Northborough Manor Gatehouse sits adjacent to the main house across the gravelled courtyard. Tucked away in a beautiful corner of England where peace and tranquility abound, the Gatehouse is steeped in history with immense character and charm and provides an excellent choice for a holiday whatever the time of year.
Northborough Manor (often referred to as Northborough Castle) is a fortified manor house with a long history. For a time it housed the Claypole family, into which Oliver Cromwell married his favourite daughter. Oliver’s wife also lived at the house upon his death. Located on the borders of Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire, this fabulous property still displays much of its original character and is an impressive example of Medieval architecture, a must-see for lovers of history and ancient buildings.
Northborough is fortunate enough to have an excellent pub serving great food (and superb local ales!), just a stone's throw from Northborough Manor. The village church is also a short stroll away and the resting place of Oliver Cromwell's wife, Elizabeth Claypole.
With Peterborough's city centre just seven miles away and the ancient riverside town of Stamford just a mile further, there are no shortage of attractions for day trips out. Visit magnificent Burghley House and Deer Park (home to the popular equestrian Burghley Horse Trials); Rutland Water for a day of outdoor adventure and watersports or Castor Hanglands Nature Reserve close to Peterborough. If you are keen on wildlife then it is also possible to drive to the coast for some bird watching at The Wash or some sea air. Alternatively, stay closer to home and explore the myriad of footpaths and lanes by foot or bike. Cambridge, Ely and Lincoln are also each under an hour away by car.
Whether you are looking for somewhere special to celebrate a special occasion with friends or just want a relaxing family holiday, Northborough Manor Gatehouse assures a warm welcome at any time of the year.
