About Hilary's Cottage

Hilary's Cottage is a charming detached Victorian holiday cottage positioned in the historic village of Swaffham Prior in East Cambridgeshire. Conveniently located, the village is famed for having two churches; both located in the same churchyard and is near to Newmarket, Cambridge, Ely and The Fens.

Hilary’s Cottage retains much of its original Victorian charm and character with lovely original features, perfectly combined with modern conveniences. It is one of two holiday cottages located here (see the owner's website for information on Garden Cottage which sleeps four) and sleeps up to six guests in three bedrooms (two upstairs bedrooms and one on the ground floor).

Swaffham Prior sits approximately eight miles from Cambridge. With a regular bus service that runs every half an hour, this central location allows you to explore the cities many attractions without the use of a car. Newmarket is also within easy reach (just five miles) and Ely with its beautiful Norman cathedral is twelve miles. In the village is a traditional 17th Century pub called The Red Lion, which is a short walk from the cottage and serves excellent food and a good selection of cask ales and wines. For local shopping, Swaffham Bulbeck is close by and has a general store and Post Office. Burwell is also within easy reach and offers a Co-op, Lloyds Chemist, Costcutter store, Post Office, petrol station, four good pubs, an Indian restaurant and several takeaways.

Accommodation comprises:

  • Kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, fridge/freezer and cooker. There is also a table and chairs.
  • Living room with large leather sofa, basic Sky television, log burner, dining table and chairs.
  • Three bedrooms: one double bedroom and one twin bedroom are located on the first floor and there is a double bedroom on the ground floor which is ideal for those with limited mobility.
  • Two bathrooms; the family bathroom is on the ground floor offering a bath, WC and wash basin plus there is an en-suite bathroom on the first floor.

Outside: There is a small secluded garden where guests can relax in the warmer months with garden furniture at the back of the cottage, along with off road parking for one car (extra parking is also available outside the cottage).

Additional information: Linen, towels, heating and electricity are included in the price. The cottage is available for short breaks and longer holidays. There is oil fired central heating throughout.
