The Old Police Station in Portsoy is a beautifully renovated holiday cottage for up to four guests. Completed in 2023, it has been transformed into a bright and welcoming home with real character. From the street, it looks small—but step inside and you’ll find a surprisingly spacious interior with a clever split-level layout. There’s a cosy king-size ensuite and a twin bedroom downstairs, while the open-plan living area sits at street level. The cottage is warm, stylish and well-equipped, with Egyptian cotton sheets, fluffy towels, reliable WiFi and a proper cook’s kitchen. Outside, the enclosed garden features a patio, solar fountain and even a quirky rockery garden on the roof of the sheds—an ideal spot for sitting out with a cuppa or a glass of wine. Well-behaved dogs are welcome too.
Portsoy is full of charm and has a strong community spirit. Its two historic harbours have stood for over 400 years and now play host to rowing skiffs and the much-loved Scottish Traditional Boat Festival each summer. You’re within walking distance of the harbour, beach, and the dog-friendly Shore Inn. The Salmon Bothy Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the town’s past, while the award-winning Portsoy Ice Cream is a must. The coastline here is stunning. Head west for dramatic cliffside walks to Sandend and Cullen or follow the Coastguard Path east, where the sea views stretch for miles.
Venture a little further and the Moray Firth Coast opens up into a playground for nature lovers, walkers and whisky fans alike. You might spot dolphins from the shore, explore quiet fishing villages like Findochty, or spend the day discovering distilleries along the Malt Whisky Trail. Families will enjoy nearby Bow Fiddle Rock and the Macduff Marine Aquarium. Whether you’re here to relax, explore or simply breathe in the sea air, The Old Police Station is a fantastic base for your next coastal adventure. Why not book your stay and see what makes this part of Scotland so special?
