About Lammerlaw Self Catering

Lammerlaw Cottage is a welcoming, 4 Star holiday cottage on a family-run farm in Elsrickle near Biggar. It's about as central as you can get, being just under an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh and within easy reach of the Firth of Clyde and historical sites such as Bannockburn, Stirling, and Paisley. The recently renovated cottage boasts beautiful rural views from the property and the fully enclosed garden. There is space for four people to sleep in two bedrooms, with room for a travel cot if you have a baby. Lammerlaw Cottage is very family-friendly and also welcomes couples who appreciate the additional space and the location that is as lovely as it is convenient for exploring central Scotland.

Elsrickle is a quiet village close to the Pentland Hills. Although small, it is not too remote for Asda, Sainsbury's and Tesco deliveries, meaning that you can order the supplies for your self-catering holiday to be delivered after your arrival. There is a good choice of cafes, shops and pubs 10-minutes away in Biggar. The market town is a hub of the rural villages in the area, hosting a huge bonfire on Hogmanay, a summer Agricultural show, and the Biggar Little Arts Festival every October. Twenty minutes from the cottage, Peebles offers a different variety of shops and a beautiful location on the bank of the River Tweed.

Scotland is traditionally famous for its castles, salmon fishing and golf. All of those things are easily accessible from Lammerlaw Self Catering. More recently, Scotland has gained fame for its exceptional mountain bike trails like those nearby at Glentress Forest Mountain Biking. Walkers and hillwalkers can explore the Pentland Hills and Southern Uplands via a superb network of footpaths, including one from the farm that leads to the peak of Blackmount Hill. Culter Fell and Tinto Hill are also favourite walking destinations.

Edinburgh and Glasgow are easily accessible by car (use the park and ride system to avoid the headache and cost of city parking), train from Carstairs or bus from Peebles. Both cities have a unique atmosphere and, while they are geographically close, their individual histories are remarkably different. Lammerlaw Holiday Cottage is wonderfully welcoming in all seasons, making it always the perfect time to visit.

Lammerlaw Cottage provides guests with 4-Star accommodation all on one level. It's fresh and modern, with an enclosed garden and fantastic views.

  • Leather sofas, a log burner, and panoramic countryside views all combine to make the living room a place where guests can relax after a day spent walking, cycling and sightseeing. There's a TV, books and family-friendly games.
  • Kitchen/diner with multi-aspect windows, garden views, and a door opening into the garden. There is ample space to store food and prepare meals in the kitchen, which is very well equipped for self-catering. A round dining table seats four people with ease. The owners provide a welcome hamper bulging with milk, bread, tea, coffee, local eggs, butter, and fresh orange juice.
  • Snug with a big leather sofa perfect for stretching out and watching TV or having a sneaky nap.
  • Spacious master bedroom with a kingsize bed, bedside tables with reading lights, a dressing table and a built-in wardrobe. Raising the blackout blind on the sensational views will be a daily pleasure. This room is large enough for a travel cot or a folding bed, both of which can be provided.
  • Second bedroom with two single beds, bedside tables with reading lights, and garden views.
  • Family bathroom with a bath, walk-in shower, WC and a handbasin.

Outside: The private garden is full-enclosed with seating, children's swings, and a big expanse of lawn for ball games and playing. There is also a woodland play area and off-street parking for two cars. A separate shed has space to dry outdoor gear, space to store bikes, and a bike stand with tools for basic repairs.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, logs for the wood burner, bed linen and bath towels are all included. Guests to provide cot bedding if it is required. Short breaks available (Friday to Monday).

Access: The property can be accessed via a gentle slope leading up to the rear door. Accommodation is all on one-level inside, however, there are not wheelchair accessible facilities inside. Please speak to the owner to discuss your requirements before booking.
