Taigh A' Bhread is a beautifully refurbished croft house in Gress on the Isle of Lewis and Harris. Whether you're a regular visitor to the Outer Hebrides or it's your first time in this unique corner of Heaven, you'll feel right at home in this welcoming holiday cottage, which comfortably sleeps six people in three bedrooms. Families, friends and couples all love this self-catering cottage overlooking the Gress River, where you can fish from June to October, walk to the beach, and access shops, restaurants and other amenities a short drive away in Stornoway.
Gress is a quiet coastal hamlet on the outskirts of the village of Back in the northeast of the island, just 15 minutes north of Stornoway. It's idyllic, with a soft sandy beach, friendly rural community, and views as far as the eye can see. Bring your binoculars and your camera because the opportunities for bird watching and photography are some of the best you'll find in Scotland, and there are miles of footpaths, bridleways and roads for walking, cycling and mountain biking. Take time to see the Callanish Stones and learn about traditional crofting life at Gearrannan Blackhouse Village.
Stornoway is the largest settlement on the island. Despite its age (the island has been settled for more than 9,000 years), it has a remarkably modern feel with excellent amenities that complement the traditional fishing and weaving industries. Take a sightseeing boat tour to St Kilda, visit the Bosta Iron Age House, and learn about the island's incredible history at the Museum nan Eilean in Lews Castle. A trip to the Isle of Harris Distillery and a round of golf at either the Stornoway Golf Club or the Isle of Harris Golf Club will round off your Scottish holiday nicely.
Taigh A' Bhread is available for bookings all year round. Whether you want a summer escape or a winter retreat, you'll find a friendly welcome waiting.
