The Slow House apartments are located off the lane in Llandefalle, a small hamlet set high up overlook the Black Mountains and the edge of the Brecon Beacons. The apartments have large windows overlooking fields, valleys, and the Black Mountains, or as they are known in Wales: Mynyddoedd Du.
Llandefalle is located between Hay on Wye and Brecon, about eight miles in either direction. For those wishing to go for a stroll there is a looped walk of about one hour, which involves going through the medieval Llandefalle Churchyard and up onto the common and down through small lanes on the way back.
Ideal for couple or the solo traveller looking for a base to explore, we welcome people working in the area.
There are a wide range of opportunities nearby: walking in the mountains and valleys; canoeing the nearby Wye River or just lazing about on the riverside; or boating on Llangorse Lake which is just a ten-minute drive away. You could attend one of the local festivals or events in Hay on Wye and Brecon, visit some of the ancient historical sites, churches and chapels and the most extensive collection of medieval castles in the world. Our local pubs and restaurants offer excellent cuisine and locally brewed beers and spirits. You can hang out on the lawns or at the edge of the pond watching the swallows dive and catch insects while viewing the changing mountain scenes, and on a clear evening in our dark sky area sit out and spot the stars.
