Bayworth Retreat is a smartly presented self-catering holiday let in the rural Oxfordshire village of Bayworth. Guests have plenty of space in this beautiful home, with a spacious living room, superbly equipped kitchen, and landscaped garden. There is space for eight people to sleep in four bedrooms, with room for an extra child in the twin room. With three bathrooms, it's an excellent choice for friends or families who appreciate the lovely countryside views and the surprisingly close location - just three miles - from the spires of Oxford. It's ideal if you're staying in the area for work and want your family with you, you're visiting family or friends for a wedding or other special occasion and don't want to stay in a hotel, or you want somewhere that's close to famous sights and attractions without sacrificing space or privacy.
Oxfordshire may be rural, but it is not rustic. Bayworth is a lovely village popular with families. You'll find all you need for a self-catering stay within a small radius. For times you don't want to cook, The Flowing Well is in the neighbouring village of Sunningwell, a leisurely 10-15 minute walk away, and The Fox is just over a mile away in Boars Hill. Both serve delicious food and have an extended drinks menu. Abingdon has Waitrose, Tesco, Budgens, and other amenities three miles away. You can take advantage of the wonderful farm shops in the area or have your groceries delivered if you'd rather avoid supermarkets.
One of the best things about staying at Bayworth is how close you are to Oxford. Settled by the Saxons and transformed into a place of learning over 1,100 years ago, the city still is a lively, vibrant place to visit. The buildings in the city centre may be medieval, but they are in constant use - there is nothing staid or stuffy about a place filled with students of all ages from all around the world. Book a walking tour through the Bodleian Library to discover the hidden lanes and doorways you wouldn't otherwise see, hire a bicycle and explore the gardens and pubs beside the Thames, and leave plenty of time to admire the treasures in the museums, churches and galleries. Oxford also has a fantastic array of shops and places to eat to suit all tastes and budgets. Outside of the city, you're only half an hour from Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Bicester Designer Shopping Village, and the eastern side of the Cotswolds.
