About The Coach House

The Coach House is an exceptionally lovely cottage in the popular Northampton village of Wootton. Staying here puts you within walking distance of the village centre, including the popular Yeoman of England pub, but, because the house is set back from the road, it is pleasantly quiet and peaceful. With easily enough space for four adults in two bedrooms, The Coach House is a good option for couples and or friends who want a holiday property with charm and character as well as comfort.

Wootton has a good choice of shops including a well-stocked village store and several great takeaways, and there is a 24-hour supermarket a few minutes’ drive from the house. Northampton is a few minutes by car - a lively town packed full of diversions and entertainment including a cinema, casino, art museum, church, and an enormous selection of shops from modern shopping centres to quirky antique shops. For those who prefer to travel by public transport, there is bus stop to and from Northampton town centre directly outside to cottage (literally within yards!). There are also some beautiful places to walk and cycle near Wootton, plus almost a dozen golf courses within a 45-minute radius.

There are very good bus, train and road links to the village which makes it easy for guests to reach all the fantastic attractions in Northampton and the surrounding area, and what a lot of them there are! If the weather is nice, a walk around Stanwick Lakes, with its wealth of wildlife, sculpture trail, play area and assault course is a must-do. Visit Grade I listed Althorp House or go to Castle Ashby and stroll around the breathtaking formal gardens and parkland; while a few hours at Sywell Country Park and Wicksteed Park are both great.  Other nearby attractions include Rushden Lakes Shopping, Silverstone, Lamport Hall and the Northampton and Lamport Steam Railway, Salcey Forest, and the site of the Battle of Naseby which was one of the last significant battles of the English Civil War.

The central location of The Coach House makes it perfect not only for exploring Northamptonshire but also for visiting the surrounding counties as well. Take a day trip to Coventry, Stratford-upon-Avon or Cambridge. See Bletchley Park or take The Making of Harry Potter Warner Bros studio tour. You can even be in the centre or Birmingham or London within an hour from Northampton train station! There is no limit to the amount of excitement you can pack into your holiday knowing that you have the comfort of The Coach House to return to for a fantastic night’s sleep so you can do it all again the next day.

Accommodation Comprises:

The Coach House is a beautiful Grade II listed cottage that has recently been renovated to a high standard to provide modern comforts without losing its original character that makes it so special. The house is on the grounds of Stonecottage, another Grade II listed property built in 1766.

Downstairs:

  • The living room is decorated in neutral colours and has comfortable seating for six people. Large windows overlook the courtyard and allow lots of natural light. There is a television with DVD player and internet channels, and the owners have thoughtfully provided a selection of books and games.
  • The open-plan country style kitchen/dining room leads off the living room. It is well equipped with a full-sized oven, grill and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, and cooking utensils and equipment. A washer/dryer is also included, and the owners kindly supply a welcome pack with tea, coffee and a bottle of wine.
  • The dining area has a wooden dining table with seating for six guests. The kitchen/dining room is dual aspect and has a door that leads to the gravel area, so it benefits from both the morning and afternoon sun.
  • The downstairs bedroom has a double bed, large fitted wardrobe, television, and an en suite washroom with WC and hand basin.

Upstairs:

  • The bedroom has a double, chest of drawers, large triple wardrobe, wall-mounted flat screen television and skylight with Venetian blind.
  • On the other side of the landing, the shower room has a shower, hand basin, and WC.

Outside: The rear courtyard is enclosed for privacy. There is outdoor furniture and parasol to make the most of sunny days. Off-road parking by prior arrangement with the owners.

Further Information: The Coach House has central heating and WiFi throughout. All utilities and linen are included in the hire, with towels being available upon request. Short breaks are possible depending on availability so please enquire with the owner. Sorry but no dogs.
