Glanderwen is in a quiet rural location surrounded by fields and natural beauty in an elevated position on the outskirts of Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant, nestled in the picturesque Tanat Valley, perfect location for friends and family to relax and explore Mid Wales and the Shropshire borders. The country holiday cottage is next to the owner's farm and sleeps six people in three bedrooms with accommodation entirely on the ground floor. It's popular with families but also works well for friends who want to explore the magnificent footpaths of the Tanat Valley and the Welsh borders near Shropshire, the rolling hills you can see from the house and the garden. The owners have focused on making the property feel like a true home-away-from-home with excellent self-catering facilities and a neutral colour scheme which allows the views to take centre stage.
Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant is a short drive away for your convenience stores and the main attraction nearby has to be the stunning Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall with a spectacular 240 ft drop, recognised as Britain’s tallest single-drop waterfall. Walkers can climb to the top of the waterfall and if you feel energetic you can then hike up the Berwyn mountain range. A more gentle but no less scenic route is the path around Lake Vyrnwy to Rhiwargor Waterfall, eight miles from Glanderwen and suitable for walking or cycling. Offa's Dyke and the Montgomery Canal are also nearby.
Shops and other amenities are 14 miles away in the historic town of Oswestry in Shropshire. After grocery shopping, explore Whittington Castle, the Park Hall Countryside Experience, and the Oswestry Iron Age Hillfort. Other local attractions are Powis Castle, Chirk Castle, and the house and 1200-acre estate at Erdigg. Day trips can include sightseeing and shopping in the medieval market town of Shrewsbury, with a great choice of pubs and restaurants. Charles Darwin was born in Shrewsbury and christened in the unusual circular St Chad's Church. The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Ironbridge Gorge are protected as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You're only an hour from the Tudor and Roman sites at Chester, which also has an excellent zoo. Alternatively, go west to Snowdonia and attractions like Bounce Below and Zip World.
