The Hollies is the perfect place for families and friends to spend time together catching up. The 200-year-old farmhouse is in a fantastic location in South Kilworth, immediately next door to a friendly local pub, The White Hart. There is space for up to 18 people to sleep in six bedrooms, while its location within easy reach of the M1 (just 3 miles from J20!) makes it ideal for people travelling from different parts of the country, especially considering that Birmingham Airport is only 30 miles away and within an hour's drive.
South Kilworth is in South Leicestershire in the heart of England, with good road links that make getting out and exploring a pleasure. In addition to its pub, where they have been pouring pints for four centuries, the village has an excellent award-winning butcher that sells cuts of locally reared meat. More shops and amenities are available in the nearby towns of Market Harborough and Rugby, both of which also have mainline train stations with regular services to London that take between 50 and 75 minutes.
Leicestershire is underrated as a holiday destination as, not only is it nice and central, but it has lots to offer visitors in terms of country walks, historic houses, exciting cities and a wealth of activities to suit every age and interest. One of the area's best attractions is Stanford Hall, only a mile and a half from The Hollies. The grand home is one of the best examples of George and Mary architecture in the UK, made even more impressive by its 700 acres of gardens and parkland.
Leave a day to spend discovering the sights of Coventry, just twenty miles from The Hollies. The city suffered from bombing raids during WWII and, sadly, its magnificent cathedral fell victim to a bomb and is now a touching ruin. Miraculously escaping damage is the medieval Guildhall where Shakespeare himself acted, and there are lots of other museums as well as shops and places to eat. If you wanted to follow in the Bard's footsteps, then Stratford-Upon-Avon is within an hour's drive of The Hollies. Alternatively, the city of Leicester is a 30-minute drive north, with lots of lovely countryside in between.
The Hollies is ideal as a base for exploring far and wide yet, because of its spacious interior and generous garden, is also perfect if you want somewhere to host a weekend of family fun and celebration.
