Sparkenhoe House has the space and features you want from a period Georgian home. The big holiday house in Upton sleeps ten people in five beautifully appointed bedrooms. The enormous front door - original to the house and typical of properties of its age and stature, opens into a wonderfully light and airy home with two reception rooms and a fantastic kitchen with a traditional range and a modern oven for self-catering. Bedrooms are spread over the upper two levels with a layout that works perfectly for families, extended families or groups of friends. In summer, you'll spend as much time as possible relaxing by the heated pool in the rear walled garden with its sun loungers and barbecue. The front garden is no less lovely, with panoramic rural views and a deck where you can watch the sunset over the Leicestershire countryside.
Upton is not so much a small village as a hamlet. The tiny scattering of houses, of which Sparkenhoe is the biggest, is on the Warwickshire/Leicestershire border. You can walk from the front door into views worthy of a landscape painting by Constable or Turner, using the footpaths and cycling routes accessible from the property. A friendly pub, shops and other amenities are four miles away in Market Bosworth. You can buy fresh fruit and vegetables from the grocers there, drive six miles to Nuneaton, or have Waitrose, Asda, Sainsbury's or Tesco deliver your shopping after your arrival.
Guests sometimes book Sparkenhoe House to host their wedding parties or families visiting for their weddings as the property is convenient for popular Warwickshire and Leicestershire wedding venues. Family-friendly local attractions include the Battle of Bosworth Visitor's Centre, Twycross Zoo, Drayton Manor Theme Park, and National Trust Calke Abbey. Coventry and Leicester are both about 45 minutes from Upton, putting places like Coventry Cathedral and the National Space Centre under an hour's drive. The house has excellent road links, being just a few miles from the M6, and is only 1.5 hours by train from London.
