The Brewers Cottage, Tomich, Glen Affric
Stay in the Heart of the Highlands.....
Discover The Brewers Cottage, a historic, nature positive cottage nestled close to the breath-taking Glen Affric, from Golden Eagles soaring above to pine martens and badgers visiting your doorstep, experience Scotland’s wildest nature from the comfort of a charming, historic retreat, The Brewers Cottage is your invitation to recharge and connect with nature
Once the home of the infamous illicit distiller John Fraser, The Brewers Cottage is a historic Highland sanctuary where history and nature truly meet. Nestled on the edge of the conservation village of Tomich, this retreat sits within the breath-taking Glen Affric region —famously known as "The Glen of a Thousand Whispers."
For almost 20 years our guests have been captivated by the peaceful, old-world energy of Tomich - a conservation village, where old fashioned lamp posts line the single track road and its past is remembered and celebrated, we now invite you to experience the magic for yourself.....
At The Brewers Cottage, we believe we are guardians of a very special landscape, and our mission has been to update yet preserve the cottage’s Victorian character, while outside transforming our garden into a thriving, nature-positive sanctuary. Through native fruit trees, bird boxes, bat boxes, and dedicated feeding stations, we have created a haven for Scotland’s iconic species, a space we invite you to help us protect as we work to support the wider Highland ecosystem for generations to come.
After a day spent wandering the ancient Caledonian forests, exploring the many Glens, or exploring the atmospheric ruins of Guisachan House, you can retreat to the lounge to warm up by the wood-burning stove whilst sinking into the reclining chairs.
The colourful history of the area can be found on the cottage walls which are adorned with fascinating photographs and documents relating to Tomich and its founder, Lord Tweedmouth.
The heart of the cottage is our modern, fully equipped kitchen and dining area, featuring an electric oven / hob, dishwasher, fridge/ freezer coffee machine, etc and a dining table perfectly positioned to frame views of the garden and the rolling hills beyond.
For your comfort the ground floor includes a modern wet room featuring a power shower, heated towel rail, and energy-saving underfloor heating.
Upstairs you’ll find two inviting bedrooms—one double and one twin—with all bed linen and towels provided for a seamless stay.
From the maps and local guidebooks in our lobby to the modern comforts in every room the cottage is fully prepared for your Highland escape.
Designed as a sanctuary for both guests and nature, the generous fenced garden offers a front-row seat to Scotland’s most iconic wildlife, with dusk-to-dawn lighting and dedicated feeding zones, you can watch badgers and pine martens from the comfort of the lounge.
To ensure a seamless start to your stay, parking is conveniently located within the double gates directly in front of the cottage, with space strictly limited to two cars. As the driveway is a shared access route and the area to the rear is private property, we kindly ask that guests respect our neighbours' privacy at all times. Please note that while we offer secure space for standard vehicles, our facilities are unable to accommodate camping vehicles or motorhomes.
Booking is from Saturday to Saturday (however you are welcome to arrive later and depart earlier within your Saturday to Saturday booking timeframe, however this option incurs the cost of the full week). The maximum night stay is 14 nights.
To ensure the cottage is prepared for every guest, check-in is after 3pm on the day of arrival, and check-out is before 10am on the day of departure. We kindly ask that the cottage be left as clean and tidy as you found it, a good housekeeping deposit applies to all bookings.
The Brewers Cottage is a self-catering retreat for up to four adults (aged 25 and over). We offer weekly stays from Saturday to Saturday, providing a strictly smoke-free and vape-free environment. We are also pleased to welcome up to two well-behaved dogs over 12 months old, (sorry no giant breeds as the cottage is small), we kindly ask that dogs remain on the ground floor, not left in the cottage alone and are exercised off-property.
