About Inchview Beach House

Inchview Beach House is a beachfront holiday home in Burntisland, sleeping up to seven guests in three bedrooms with the Firth of Forth quite literally at the end of the garden. Built in 1908 and beautifully refurbished, the house has retained its period character while gaining a smart, contemporary interior, with herringbone flooring, Scandi-inspired finishes and a log fire for colder evenings. But it's the relationship with the water that makes staying here different. The bedrooms have sea views, and the front patio looks across the bay towards Inchkeith and the Black Rock. You can watch the light change over the Forth, wander down to the beach on a whim or start the morning with a swim in one of Fife's wild swimming spots. At the back, there's an enclosed private garden with views towards the Binn. It's a house that works particularly well for families and friends who want a seaside holiday without having to choose between coast, countryside and city days.

Burntisland gives you plenty of reasons to leave the car where it is. The beach and Fife Coastal Path are on the doorstep, while coffee shops, ice cream, pubs, cafés and restaurants are all close by. Beacon Leisure Centre is around a five-minute walk from the house, with a swimming pool, gym, sauna, and steam room, as well as football, basketball, and skateboarding facilities. Golfers can walk to Burntisland Golf Club in about ten minutes, where the elevated course comes with remarkable views stretching from the three Forth bridges to Arthur's Seat, East Lothian and the Bass Rock. Summer brings putting, the Burntisland Fair and July's Highland Games, while walkers can tackle the Binn for another panoramic look across the Forth. There's history here too: Rossend Castle has connections to Mary Queen of Scots, and the town was home to the scientist Mary Somerville and the football pioneer David Danskin.

Then there's Edinburgh. Burntisland railway station is about 10 minutes away on foot, and trains reach the capital in approximately half an hour, making days at Edinburgh Castle, the museums, shops and galleries surprisingly easy without having to drive into the city. In the other direction, the trains and local buses open up more of the Fife coast, while St Andrews, the host of the British Golf Open, is around half an hour by train. With a car, Perth and Stirling are 45 minutes away, Loch Lomond about an hour and a half away and in the winter if you fancy ski-ing Glenshee is also about an hour and a half away. The variety of options is an outstanding feature of Inchview. Alternatively, you may wish to do nothing more ambitious than following the coastal path for a stretch, stopping for coffee, and coming home to watch the water before lighting the log fire. Sounds blissful? That's because it is.

Accommodation Comprises:

Inchview Beach House is a beautifully restored sandstone cottage with stunning water views and loads of space for family and friends.

Ground Floor:

  • Living Room: Come home from the beach, kick off your shoes and settle down in front of the log fire. The living room has plenty of space for everyone to relax together, with an HD television, WiFi and games for quieter evenings. On colder days, the fire makes a particularly welcome contrast to the sea air outside.
  • Kitchen/Dining Room: Modern and well-equipped for self-catering, the kitchen has an oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, kettle and toaster. The large breakfast bar and dining space seat seven, so meals can be as sociable as the rest of the holiday, whether you're grabbing breakfast before catching the train to Edinburgh or staying in for dinner after a day on the coast.

Upstairs:

  • Bedroom One: A double bedroom with dual-aspect windows and water views, so the Firth of Forth is one of the first things you'll see in the morning. There's clothes storage, room-darkening blinds and extra pillows and blankets for added comfort.
  • Bedroom Two: Sleeping up to three guests in a double and single bed, this flexible family room works well for parents with a child or three guests happy to share. Clothes storage, bed linen and extra pillows and blankets are provided.
  • Bedroom Three: A twin bedroom with two single beds, built-in storage and more of those wonderful water views. Room-darkening blinds make lie-ins easier after busy days exploring Fife or Edinburgh.
  • Bathrooms: There are two bathrooms, including an upgraded bathroom with Scandi-style tiling, gold finishes and ambient lighting. A Bluetooth mirror lets you put on a favourite playlist while getting ready and adds a fun, contemporary touch to the room.

Outside
There's outdoor space on both sides of Inchview Beach House. At the front, the patio looks towards the sea and makes the most of the property's enviable position beside the Firth of Forth. To the rear is a private enclosed garden with seating and views towards Binn Hill, giving guests another spot for coffee in the fresh air or a drink at the end of the day. The beach is just yards away, so there's no need to plan a seaside trip – simply head outside whenever the mood takes you. Free on-street parking and a free local car park are available.

Additional Information
Accommodation is over two levels with internal and external steps. WiFi, bed linen, bath towels and utilities are included. Dogs and smoking not permitted.
