Red Kite Lodge offers couples, families and friends 4-star comfort in a fantastic location with gorgeous loch views. Crafted in the style of a Scandinavian chalet, the timber holiday cottage sleeps up to four people in two bedrooms and has all of the comforts of home. The beach at Sandyhills Bay is a mere 10-minute stroll from the door, while other Dumfries and Galloway attractions such as Dalbeattie Forest are within easy reach. The lodge is on a quiet holiday park where amenities include a bar and restaurant. It's a perfect escape all year round.
Galloway and the Colvend Coast are utterly gorgeous. Whether you're a die-hard lover of the great outdoors or your idea of roughing it is a picnic, you'll quickly fall under its spell. The scope for walking and hiking is impressive, whether you meander along the footpath around the loch's edge, walk along the sandy coast, or scale hills like the 843 metres high Merrick or 570-metre Criffel. There's no reason to rush through your days - take time to appreciate the sounds and scents of the woods, watch the Red Kites and resident local deer, and enjoy the fresh air and sense of peace. It isn't only walkers who are well catered for in the region - the 7stanes mountain bike park in Dalbeattie Forest is a magnet for keen mountain bikers.
Local attractions include the RSPB Mull of Galloway with its wealth of birds and historic lighthouse, the Camera Obscura Museum in Dumfries, Drumlanrig Castle and Caerlaverock Castle. Bainloch Deer Park is a favourite amongst guests of all ages, while anglers appreciate being only a ten-minute drive from Fairgirth Trout Loch. Young families should certainly add Dalscone Farm and The Cocoa Bean to their itinerary. Nearby, there are distilleries and golf courses, museums, activity centres and plenty of places to eat, drink and shop.
The owners have other properties, Owl Lodge & Kestrel Lodge, close to Red Kite Lodge in the same holiday park. They sleep up to six people in each Lodge, and they can be booked together (depending on availability) to accommodate extended families or groups of friends. Please see their website for information.

Outside: The lodge has balconies on the lower and upper levels that run the full width of the building. Tables and chairs make it possible to eat outside in good weather, or sit with a drink and soak in the tranquil views. There is off-street parking next to the cottage.
Additional Information: Utilities, Wi-Fi, bed linen and bath towels are all provided. Up to two well-behaved dogs welcome. A travel cot (no bedding), highchair and stairgate are all available. Smoking is not permitted.
