Aberyscir Coach House , your Dark Skies Brecon Beacons Holiday Cottage, could not be in a better location. The gorgeous Victorian coach house is now an extremely comfortable holiday cottage for couples or solo travellers, offering privacy, peace and stunning views of the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park. Whether you're planning your honeymoon or just searching for a quiet retreat where you can rest and recharge your batteries, you will receive a warm welcome at any time of the year.
Aberyscir is a tiny hamlet on the Yscir River, on the border of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The market town of Brecon, where visitors will find an excellent array of independent pubs, shops, cafes and local businesses, is 3.5 miles from the cottage. Brecon is also the place to go if you want to hire a bicycle, hire a boat or a canoe to explore this part of the River Usk or arrange a fishing licence.
The scale of the landscape around Brecon is breathtaking, and it is no surprise that millions of people make a beeline for the Brecon Beacons when it's time to get outdoors and active. Walking is a favourite way to explore, and there are beautiful footpaths from the door of Aberyscir Coach House. The Brecon Beacons National Park Visitor Centre and the Brecon Beacons Park Society both arrange guided walking tours in summer, with both groups being an excellent resource of information about walking in the area. There are two fantastic riding stables close to the cottage, so saddle up and explore the hills and mountains from horseback. Cycling and mountain biking are both extremely popular, and there are a wide variety of routes and trails to suit all abilities.
Other activities to enjoy during your stay can include climbing, caving and gorge walking. The Brecon Beacons National Park is a recognised International Dark Sky Reserve and the Brecon Beacon Observatory, only three miles from the cottage, runs regular stargazing events. Alternatively, just sit outside the cottage on a clear night to be rewarded with a heavenly view.
First-time visitors can be forgiven for thinking this rural community is sleepy and quiet, but there is always something fun happening with some of Wales' most important events, such as the Royal Welsh Show, Green Man Festival, Brecon Jazz Festival and the Abergavenny Food Festival, taking place within only a few miles of the cottage. There are also charming market towns to visit, castles and country houses, and beautiful views in every season.
Aberyscir Coach House is available all year round for short breaks and more extended stays. See the owner's website for more information.
