The Old Stables at Linden Cottage is a beautiful holiday cottage on the border between Oxfordshire and Berkshire. It is in a quiet location opposite the iconic River Thames, about a 15-minute walk from The Bull pub in Streatley, and half an hour's stroll from Goring's shops, cafes, pubs and amenities. The three-bedroom cottage comfortably sleeps up to six people and is ideal for couples as well as families and friends.
Streatley makes the perfect place to escape to the country. It is close to both the Thames Path and the Ridgeway National Trail to give visitors easy access to beautiful walks, cycling routes and bridleways for horse riding. Waymarked trails include the Thames Footpaths, which follows the river for 180 miles, or the Ridgeway Trail that passes through Streatley on its way from Ivinghoe Beacon to Avebury. Swan's Way is ideal for both cyclists and walkers, with other routes including Judge's Ride, the Chiltern Way and the Icknield Way. Fishing, sailing and golf are three more ways to enjoy this beautiful slice of England, but guests only need to sit in the garden and watch the red kites, swallows and plethora of other birds that flit around.
There is no shortage of things to do or places to see when you stay at The Old Stables, regardless of the weather or the season. The summer calendar is packed with fun events that include local shows and an annual regatta, with markets and celebrations throughout the year. Blenheim Palace, Woodstock and the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are all between a 30 and a 45-minute drive from the cottage, and Legoland Windsor is an hour away for an exciting day with the family. A nearby train station has direct trains to London's Paddington station so you can also plan a day or two of shopping or sightseeing around the capital before returning to the tranquil surroundings of The Old Stables.
You don't have to travel far to find a peaceful place where you and your family can unwind, relax and enjoy spending time together in a beautiful environment. The Old Stables is available all year round, with short breaks possible between September and May depending on availability. Please see the owner's website for more details.
