Waterside Cottage dates back over 150 years and is a charming detached holiday cottage that enjoys an elevated waterside position next to the Grand Union Canal in Bedfordshire. The cottage sleeps up to eleven guests and offers all the right ingredients for an enjoyable holiday - spend your days simply relaxing by the water watching the boats drift past or alternatively, go fishing, canoeing, walking or cycling.
Sitting within a local boat yard, Waterside Cottage sits on the edge of the Chiltern Hills, and is within easy reach of Leighton Buzzard, an attractive market town with a good range of shops. An excellent choice for those who enjoy being by the water and also large groups who want to getaway and catch up, there is always plenty to see and and do when you stay at Waterside Cottage. Within a twenty minute pleasant stroll you have pubs for a long leisurely lunch. Hire a boat locally and explore the canal. There are also shops within waking distance and a leisure centre (less than half an hour's walk away).
The surrounding area has a good choice of attractions including country houses and places of historic interest. The 'new' city of Milton Keynes is only eight miles from Waterside Cottage offering a host of attractions. Whipsnade Zoo is another of the areas popular attractions, as is Woburn Estate with its famous Abbey, glorious gardens, golf club and Safari Park. The Chiltern Hills, Tring Reservoirs (a haven for wildlife) and the Ridgeway National Walking Trail are all less than six miles away. Alternatively, travel further afield and visit the historic town of Aylesbury, The Canal Museum at Stoke Bruerne, or the county town of Bedford.
You are able to launch your own canoes/dinghy by the cottage and fishing on the canal is also available (national rod license required/local day ticket is apx £6).
