About An Cala

An Cala sits at the mouth of Loch Etive, where the loch meets the sea and creates the famous 'Falls of Lora' rapids. The vast landscapes of the Inner Hebrides are laid out before the house, with spectacular views directly across the Firth of Lorn to the Isles of Mull, Lismore and mountains beyond. Evenings can be rewarded with spectacular sunsets with the sun setting directly across the water.

The living room features a large wood-burning stove and reclining Norweigian leather chairs. The open plan dining area is perfect for enjoying a meal while still taking in the sunset views. To the rear of the cottage is the fully equipped kitchen and conservatory, with underfloor heating throughout, offering an additional breakfast dining area. The enclosed garden is accessed from the kitchen, with a patio area ideal for BBQs or al fresco dining. Alternatively, there is an excellent gastro pub and restaurant within two minutes walking distance.

Situated in the village of Connel, An Cala is only 4 miles from Oban - “Gateway to the Isles”. Oban is a charming and bustling town, a perfect base for exploring the Hebrides and a fantastic destination in its own right, offering a wonderful mix of history, activities, seafood and stunning scenery. Oban is the perfect blend of a working Scottish town and a tourist hub. You can spend your days exploring ancient castles, tasting world-class whisky, feasting on fresh seafood, and embarking on adventures to wild islands, beaches and seascapes teeming with life. Its friendly atmosphere and stunning setting make it a must-visit destination on any Scottish itinerary.

From Connel to Glencoe is a beautiful thirty mile drive. Renowned for its breathtaking scenery, opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking and climbing, the area also serves as a popular filming location featured in movies like Harry Potter and Skyfall.

Ten miles beyond is Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK. It is the most popular mountain in Scotland and a major hiking and climbing destination.
