About Felin Manaw

Felin Menaw is a gorgeous detached holiday cottage on the beautiful island of Anglesey in Wales. Once the home of the Miller for the windmill, the cottage has been refurbished to provide a high standard of accommodation for up to four guests in two bedrooms (an en-suite king on the ground floor makes the cottage possibly suitable for those with limited mobility). It is hard to find a more peaceful location than here, surrounded by glorious countryside just outside of Trefor. It is only two miles to Bodedern village where there are two great pubs: The George Inn and the Crown Hotel, as well as a variety of shops and amenities.

Anglesey, known in Welsh as Ynys Mon, packs an enormous amount into a relatively small space. To start, there are 125 miles of coastal footpath so you can walk all day admiring views, spotting birds and wildlife, and breathing in the clean ocean air. The beaches are stunning, and there are plenty to choose from including Newborough, Benllech, Traeth Cymyran and Porth Dafarch. Cycling is a fantastic way to enjoy the beauty of Anglesey. Challenge yourself on the 36-mile Lon Las Copr route that encompasses in Llynnon Mill, Wales’ only working windmill and Parys Mountain; or take it gently along Lon Las Cefni which is 13-miles and suitable for all abilities.

You cannot visit Anglesey without going to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, which you may be relieved to know is more often referenced by locals as Llanfair PG. The Victorians gave the town the 58-character name - the longest in Europe, as a way of promoting tourism to the island. Welsh is widely spoken as a first language, although virtually all signs are also in English, and most residents are happy to converse with visitors in either language.

Beaumaris Castle is a fantastic example of Edward I’s determination to crush the Welsh into submission. Now managed by Cadw, it is a popular tourist attraction. Bryn Celli Ddu, a Neolithic burial chamber, is a good destination for a walk, though it is only ten minutes from a car park if you do not feel energetic, and there is another ancient burial chamber near Moelfre. Holyhead is a fantastic place for a day out. It is the largest town on Anglesey and has a busy ferry port, but you only need to go to Breakwater Country Park or the South Stack Cliffs RSPB Reserve and lighthouse if it feels too busy.

Being virtually in the centre of Anglesey means that all of Anglesey's best attractions are within easy reach of Felin Menaw, making it a practical as well as a comfortable base to explore the island.
