Barnacre Green Cottage sleeps four to six guests and offers luxury accommodation which is located on a farm in the small village of Saughall massie, in the leisure peninsula of The Wirral.
The cottage is made from traditional green oak frame with lime panels and all materials and fittings have been selected for their low environmental and carbon impact. Barnacre Green cottage is self sufficient for all water, energy and waste water so you can enjoy your holiday with the peace of mind that you are having very little environmental impact.
Situated 400 metres up a private farm road, Barnacre is ideally located for exploring the Wirral with beautiful coastal walks and stunning scenery. Guests can enjoy onsite fishing with a one acre well stocked lake. The area is excellent for golf with the Royal Liverpool Open course at Hoylake.
The local village offers an excellent local pub/restaurant within walking distance and there is fine dining in nearby restaurants and hotels. This is an excellent base for daytrips to the roman town of Chester and Liverpool, voted the European Capital of Culture 2008.
Wirral is a peninsula of gardens, sandy beaches, stunning sunsets, parks and picturesque villages. Whether you enjoy sports, drama and music or simply prefer relaxing and enjoying a picnic in the park - there is something for everyone.
With such an abundance of culture and heritage, Wirral has many hidden treasures dating back from as early as the Stone age, just waiting to be explored. New for March 2009 - A unique and completely 'green' swimming pool and gym area. The indoor pool is heated to ensure guests comfort and pleasure but uses no fossil fuels and the water for onsite is harvested rainwater.

Featured on the BBC's 'It's Not Easy Being Green' television program in 2007, this newly built holiday cottage can accommodate four to six guests. It offers the following accommodation and facilities:
Under floor central heating and ground source heat pump; all water is from the onsite rainwater harvesting system; all electricity is generated by the onsite wind turbine, gas central heating and cosy wood burner.
Large oak kitchen which has beautiful granite worktops and is fully equipped with a full size electric oven/grill, electric hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster etc all powered by a wind turbine.
The cosy lounge area is the perfect place to relax with wood burning fire and vaulted beamed ceiling. There is under floor heating which keeps the sandstone floor warm under foot, along with TV, video and selection of videos and CDs, games etc for entertainment.
Two spacious double bedrooms both with vaulted ceilings and antique French Oak beds.

Additional information: Well behaved pets are welcome by prior arrangement. All bed linen is provided at no extra cost. Welcoming tea, coffee, milk, and sugar ensures a good start to your holiday and often there are little extras such as our own free-range eggs when available. The cottage is available for week long or short breaks depending on availability. The cottage is 80m from the well stocked fishing lake. A laundry service is provided by the owners.
