About The Annex

When you visit Dentdale you will by overwhelmed by the stunning scenery, deep heritage and great sense of pride that runs through the Dales community. A place surrounded by natural beauty that has over many years attracted artists, musicians, photographers and poets. Dentdale offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy a more relaxed pace of life and its convenient location, on the outskirts of Cumbria yet within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, makes it a superb base for visiting the vast array of attractions dotted throughout both the Dales and the county of Cumbria, including the Lake District National Park which is just fifteen miles from Dent.

Here you can relax and unwind amongst breath taking scenery; spend your days walking through spectacular rolling countryside, enjoying riverside walks, or discovering the many attractions of the area - every day escaping the crowds to return back to this peaceful haven of tranquility.

There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy in the area which is a haven for walkers where stunning countryside and wildlife abound. A vast array of footpaths criss cross the landscape allowing you to explore the area including the Heritage Trail and intriguing Flintergill. Alternatively, take a more sedate stroll alongside the River Dee. Cycling is another popular pursuit with pretty country lanes for a leisurely ride and off-road tracks providing an excellent way of experiencing the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales and also the Pennine Cycleways which call be accessed directly via Dentdale village.

The Settle-Carlisle Railway passes through Dentdale (stopping at its station which is the highest in England!) and is one of the most spectacular railway journeys in the world. You can take a train to Carlisle or Leeds for a great day out and sit back and enjoy the stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales and Pennines on your way.

Dent Village has a Heritage Centre which reveals the working lives of the Dale's people since the 16th Century and the Meditation Centre which is an ideal place for quiet contemplation. The village also has three pubs and two cafes offering the opportunity to enjoy a meal out or pint of local ale at the end of a long walk!

With wonderful walking, spectacular scenery and so many places within easy reach both within the Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria, you are sure to want to return time and time again to this peaceful paradise.

Location (The Yorkshire Dales)

Ideally located in a spectacular position, The Annex offers single level accommodation and is located just beyond the hamlet of Gawthrop & is located under a mile and a half from the cobbled village of Dent.

Accommodation comprises:

  • Ground floor king-size bedroom which can be made up as a twin upon request, with built-in wardrobe and drawers for storage.
  • Shower room with WC, wash basin and walk in shower-cubicle.
  • Open plan living area/kitchen, well equipped with electric oven, hob, microwave and fridge, along with comfy seating, flat screen television, DVD player and wooden floors with underfloor heating. A door leads out to the private seating area and garden with furniture.

Additional information: Central heating keeps Annex warm and cosy all year round. Linen and towels are provided and included in the price along with heating, and electricity. Off road parking. Non Smoking and unfortunately no pets. Maid service available by arrangement.
