Rosedale House is a gorgeous Georgian holiday home in Richmond. Far from an average cottage, this Grand Dame has graced the Pottergate area of town for more than two hundred years and is a respected part of Richmond's heritage with a Grade II listed status. The house sleeps 14 guests in seven elegantly furnished ensuite bedrooms and is perfect for your next family gathering, reunion or milestone celebration. You're only a two-minute walk from the historic town centre and marketplace, making this a convenient as well as a comfortable place to stay while enjoying the many delights of the Yorkshire Dales.
Richmond is a thriving community with many attractions. The walls of Richmond Castle date back almost a thousand years though the keep is more modern, having been built in the 1200s. The original marketplace is also nearly a thousand years old and one of the biggest in England. Market day is Saturday, though Richmond's independent shops are great every day of the week. Richmond Museum and Easby Abbey are also worth adding to your sightseeing plan, as is the Georgian Theatre and Museum and Friary Tower and Gardens. Those with a taste for the macabre will enjoy a guided ghost walk, though you can follow the self-guided town trails in the safety of daylight if that sounds a bit scary. Harrogate and York have more choices for sightseeing and shopping.
The Yorkshire Dales sprawls west of Richmond, enticing visitors with spectacular scenery both above and below ground. There are endless miles of footpaths and mountain bike trails covering moors and mountains, with opportunities for caving and potholing around the north of the national park and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Hire a bike or book a guided walking, cycling or horseback riding tour.
Rosedale House is wonderfully central so that you don't need to use a car at all. Everything you could need, from supermarkets to delis, bars and shops, are all within a short walk.
