About The Cherries

The Cherries is a pretty holiday cottage is the quiet Yorkshire village of High Catton. The owners' love for the property and their consideration for the comfort of their guests shines through at every turn, from the cosy rugs on the stripped pine floors all the way to the games room in the converted loft. Five people can sleep in three bedrooms with lots of family-friendly touches that ensure you will quickly settle in and feel at home.

High Catton is a lovely village next to the Yorkshire Wolds. It has a welcoming rural atmosphere yet is only 10 miles from the ancient city of York with all of its attractions and amenities. It's easy enough to drive there, but guests who would rather avoid city traffic can either use the regular bus service or drive to nearby Grimston Bar to Park and Ride. York has enough to keep anyone busy for days, with historical buildings, museums, shopping, restaurants, cinemas and other entertainments. Closer to home is Pocklington, with a weekly market every Tuesday, two supermarkets, and a good choice of places to eat and drink. Beverley, Hull and Malton are also within easy reach. Each town has features and a history that makes it unique yet quintessentially Yorkshire.

Local attractions include Burnby Hall Gardens, Beverley Racecourse, The Deep sea life aquarium, and the North York Moors Railway. Places to visit in the surrounding area include The World of James Herriot in Thirsk, Jorvik Viking Centre, Castle Howard, Flamingoland, Yorkshire Lavender, and a host of National Trust and English Heritage properties.

Head to Scarborough, Bridlington, Whitby, Filey, Robin Hood's Bay or Sandsend for a memorable day at the seaside and fantastic coastal views. There are endless miles of footpaths, cycling routes and mountain bike trails to suit all abilities, golf courses, riding stables and opportunities for climbing and caving. Way-marked footpaths close to the cottage include The Wolds Way, Chalkland Way, Hudson Way, Minster Way, and Wilberforce Way. National Cycling Routes 65 and 66 pass near the village.

Guests who stay at The Cherries are highly complimentary about the standard of accommodation, the location and the amenities. You can read their testimonies on the owner's website.
