About Pheasant's Roost

Pheasant's Roost is a contemporary and cosy shepherd's hut in rural Yorkshire, five miles from Malton and within easy reach of Scarborough and York. The self-catering holiday home is ideal for a romantic glamping escape or a special occasion, offering all the comforts of home with a log fired outdoor hot tub. Imagine spending a fun day cycling through the Howardian Hills or trekking along the Yorkshire coast, returning to a relaxed dinner by the fire pit and a gentle soak in the hot tub under brilliant night skies. Pheasant's Roost is on the outskirts of the tranquil village of Thorpe Bassett, half a mile from two pubs, The Fleece and The Coach and Horses, a popular fish-and-chip shop, and a village store.

Thanks to convenient road links, Malton is five miles or a 10-minute drive away. It's renowned as the food capital of Yorkshire due to an excellent variety of food retailers and fantastic monthly farmers market - it's no wonder that famous foodies like the Hairy Bikers love it! Between Malton and its neighbour, Norton, there are five supermarkets. While they're great for essentials, it's far nicer to shop and eat at independently owned places serving delicious local produce. The owners of Pheasant's Roost can arrange a breakfast pack to make your first morning as relaxed as possible.

Yorkshire is known for the quality of its footpaths and cycling routes. The landscape is as diverse as it is spectacular. You can cycle roads used by the Tour de Yorkshire, surf at Cayton Bay, and walk along the Wolds Way National Trail, which passes just half a mile from the door. The shepherd's hut is 35 minutes from beautiful York with its wonderful shops and impressive Minster. You're half an hour from Scarborough, 25-minutes from Dalby Forest, and 20 minutes from Castle Howard. Other local attractions include the fragrant Wolds Way Lavender, Whitby Abbey, and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Pheasant's Roost is available for holiday bookings, including short breaks, all year round. Well-behaved dogs are welcome and have an enclosed area to run and play.
