Afan Valley House provides spacious holiday accommodation for twelve to fourteen guests in four bedrooms with bunk beds. Located in Cymmer village in the Afan Forest, one of the most beautiful valleys in South Wales, Afan Valley House provides guests with easy access to the Afan trails (starting at Glyncorrwg and Afan Argoed a mile away).
This spacious holiday home is the perfect choice for large parties with three toilets, three showers and dining space for twelve. It has been converted with mountain bikers and walkers in mind, having a large utility room outside with drying facilities (and washing machine and tumble dryer) and bike storage for up to twelve bikes.
Cymmer has a village store for stocking up on provisions, a very good swimming pool, butcher, takeaway and also a good pub serving food - all within a short stroll of Afan Valley House.
There's an abundance of opportunities for outdoor lovers with the Glencorrwg Mountain Biking Centre just three miles from the cottage and the Afan Argoed Visitor Centre five miles away. For those who want to bring their bike, the cottage has a secure lock up and wash down facilities and the village offers plenty of amenities for self-catering including a village store for stocking up on provisions, Chinese takeaway and a good pub for a meal out.
One of the UK's top locations for mountain bikers, the Afan Forest offers a superb choice of trails allowing you to experience the thrill of carving your way through the hillside and valley. Afan Forest Park is home to five world class trails: ‘Y Wal’, the ‘Penhydd’, ‘White’s Level’, ‘Skyline’ and 'W2' and is to date, the UK's only UK trail destination to be featured in the ‘What Mountain Bike Magazine’ as one of the ten best places to ride “before you die”.
Apart from mountain biking, the surrounding area offers an abundance of things to do and see. Visit Margam Country Park and explore a thousand acres of glorious grounds which are abundant with wildlife (coarse fishing available). For those who seek the cry of the gulls, head to Porthcawl and enjoy a day on the glorious sands with a picnic (twenty minute drive) and visit Aberdulais Falls for an insight into the areas industrial heritage and knowledge about the old tin works.
Other activities to enjoy in the area are pony trekking at Cimla Riding Centre, diving off the shores of the Gower and also Sailing (yacht hire is available from Oxwich Bay.

Accommodation and facilities:
Outside: A pleasant rear garden is accessed via a lockable side passage and there is outside seating for enjoying a glass at the end of the day whilst taking in the wonderful mountain and valley views. The mountains can be accessed directly from the back gate allowing you to explore from the back door! Parking is limited outside the house, however, there is a free car park with lots of space just down the hill (150 meters).
Additional information: All bed linen, towels, electricity and gas are included. Pets are welcome. Wi-Fi internet access available and unlimited.
Prices: Short breaks are available all year round. A single night during the week is £150 and £200 of a weekend. Friday to Monday is £360; Monday to Friday is £240 and Friday to Friday is £500.
