Primrose Cottage provides a romantic retreat for couples in the heart of the Suffolk hamlet of Kersey. A fantastic place to stay if you want to enjoy lovely walks straight from the front door, beautiful countryside, a wonderful pub in walking distance and pretty historic villages dotted along the river valleys.
The picturesque village of Kersey is located close to the Stour Valley which has now become known as Constable Country. The village dates back to medieval times and boasts a beautiful 14th Century church, attractive Elizabethan buildings, the ford (the 'splash' which is a tributary of the River Brett) and The Bell Inn with its good ale, log fire and uncomplicated food.
This delightful part of South Suffolk has the highest number of timber framed medieval buildings in the county. In the Middle Ages, the area was the heart of the English wool industry and today the wealth it generated still shines through providing magnificent buildings to marvel at.
Ordnance survey and local maps are provided in the cottage showing footpaths to local towns and villages such as Chelsworth and Hadleigh. The quiet country lanes are ideal for cyclists and there are plenty of excellent pubs and restaurants in the area for enjoying a long lunch. There is beautiful open countryside to explore and plenty of attractions and places to visit within easy reach of Primrose Cottage. These include: Lavenham - the best preserved medieval village in the country; Long Melford - famous for its antiques and Tudor house (Melford Hall); Bury St. Edmunds - the capital of West Suffolk and Kentwell Hall - a wonderfully restored moated Tudor Mansion near to Long Melford.
For those happy to travel a little further afield, the beautiful Suffolk coast is within an hours drive and offers great diversity with its wetlands, charming seaside towns and historic riverside villages, popular for beach lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.
