About Half Moon Lane Cottage

Half Moon Lane Cottage provides a genuinely warm welcome to all family members, including canines. Having struggled to find a holiday home both dog-proof and dog-friendly, the owners have created an oasis in the Suffolk village of Redgrave, within walking distance of the village shop and the Cross Keys pub. It sleeps six people in three bedrooms and suits friends or families with children over 12 years old. There are no restrictions on dogs staying, and you can even leave them alone in the cottage for a few hours if they are happier there than sightseeing with you. This flexibility allows you to enjoy pubs, restaurants, sights and attractions that may not be dog-friendly.

Redgrave is a friendly village with lots to attract holidaymakers in all seasons. As well as a community-owned village shop and pub, it has a bakery known for its delicious bread and pastries and a micro-brewery with a beer garden. It's a place where you can socialise as well as somewhere you can escape from the rat race and enjoy a respite of lazy days, country walks and beautiful views. There are six nature reserves within five miles, so lots of opportunities for walking, bird watching and wildlife spotting. A little further is Knettishall Heath (a Site of Special Scientific Interest), Thetford Forest, and long-distance footpaths like Boudica's Way and Peddars Way.

Local attractions are plentiful and include stately homes and estates such as Sandringham, historic ruins like the Motte and Thetford Castle, zoos, animal sanctuaries, and the Snetterton Race Circuit. The holiday cottage is an hour from the iconic Norfolk Broads and dog friendly Suffolk beaches like Dunwich and Thorpeness. Go shopping and sightseeing nearby in Diss and Bury St Edmunds, or spend a day in Ipswich, Norwich or Cambridge. When you stay at Half Moon Lane Cottage, you have a wealth of sights and activities on the doorstep, with something to suit all ages and interests.

Guests who have stayed at the cottage love that there are so many excellent walks from the door and how the owners have created such a welcoming atmosphere with everything dogs and their people need to feel settled and relaxed immediately.

Accommodation Comprises:

A pretty detached period holiday cottage with two separate outdoor areas and accommodation over two levels.


  • Entrance hallway with a rack for shoes, boots, coats and leads. The downstairs flooring is a practical mix of oiled brick, quarry tiles and hardwood. Original oak beams are another attractive feature.
  • Living room with a leather corner sofa, Smart TV, and a fireplace with a log burner. It's a cosy, welcoming space where you can enjoy spending time together with family and friends. A dining area has a solid pine table with seating for six.
  • Games room with casual seating, books and board games. The log burner is double-sided, with this room also benefiting from its cosy warmth.
  • Country kitchen overlooking the secure rear garden, a modern range cooker, and stable doors that open onto the patio and garden. Cupboards are filled with pots, pans, plates and other equipment for self-catering, and there is lots of bench space to prepare and serve meals.
  • Dog-friendly touches include bowls, beds, and balls.


  • Master bedroom with a superking-sized (6ft-wide) bed and proper storage. The luxurious ensuite has a tiled rainfall wet room shower and a has a deep, double-ended bath with a hand-held shower attachment for relaxing after a day's walking, cycling and sightseeing.
  • Two further bedrooms have double beds, bedside tables with reading lights, and storage. Beds are made up for the arrival of guests, and bed linen and towels are professionally laundered for your comfort and confidence.
  • Tiled family bathroom with shower over the bath, WC and a handbasin.

Outside: Anyone with dogs appreciates that outdoor space is as important as the interior of a holiday cottage. Half Moon Lane Cottage has an enclosed rear garden with grassed area, a deck with seating and a barbecue, a patio with an outdoor dining table seating six, and a further front lawn surrounded by hedging. There is also off-street parking for two cars.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen, and the fuel for the log burner are included. The owner regrets they cannot accommodate guests under 12. Well-behaved dogs are welcome for no additional fee. Smoking is not permitted inside the cottage, but smokers are welcome to smoke outside. Reduced rates are available for bookings with fewer than four human guests – please contact the property owner for details.
