About Cambridge Cottage in Suffolk

Cambridge Cottage is everything you could wish for in a cosy Suffolk Cottage. Picture postcard pretty, this 16th Century pink holiday cottage is packed full of original romantic charm and ideally located in one of Suffolk's most desirable villages, Coddenham.

Sleeping two guests in a double bedroom, Cambridge Cottage is perfect for anyone looking to escape away for a holiday in this beautiful part of England. Recently refurbished, the owner has preserved all of the fabulous traditional character including original oak beams and floors and brickwork, enhancing it with lovely touches like the green French log burner, roll-top bath for a long soak, sun-trap courtyard for alfresco dining and bench to the front of the cottage where you can sit with a G&T or your morning coffee soaking up village life.

Coddenham sits in a Conservation Area and is a proper old fashioned village with a strong sense of community spirit at its heart. The old red telephone box has been been converted into a focal feature where you will find local information and books you are welcome to borrow for the duration of your stay. There is also a village shop offering take-away sandwiches, pastries, coffee and tea, plus a Country Club welcoming non members and lovely walks through the surrounding countryside starting from the front door of Cambridge Cottage.

For those who want to get out and about exploring, Ipswich, one of the country's oldest towns, is only eight miles away. It has a vibrant waterfront at Neptune Marina with a great choice of places for a drink or meal, along with museums, boat trips on the river, theatres and a beautiful park. Snape Maltings is another 'must' to visit, particularly for those who enjoy arts and culture and a little retail therapy. Suffolk's top Arts Venue, Snape is home to the Aldeburgh Music Festival and has a busy calendar of events throughout the year, along with galleries to browse, cafes, independent shops and lovely walks. Orford should also be on your holiday itinerary, as should the fascinating royal burial ground of Sutton Hoo (National Trust); the market town of Woodbridge and Framlingham with its castle ruins.

Suffolk's beautiful Heritage Coast is less than twenty miles away putting seaside towns like Aldeburgh and Southwold within easy reach for a day trip out. Suffolk also offers endless opportunities for cycling, walking and bird watching with reserves like RSPB Minsmere within driving distance.

Location (Suffolk)

It is sure to be love at first sight as you walk through the iron railing gate and unlock the green stable front door.

Accommodation comprises:

  • A cosy sitting room welcomes you with a comfy sofa, armchair, cute little green log burner and Smart TV where you can relax as the flames flicker watching a movie. Beams on the ceiling and original oak floor add to the charm of this welcoming room.
  • Kitchen with dining area and stable door leading out to the enclosed sunny courtyard garden. With exposed red bricks and quarry tile floor, the kitchen is both charming and well-equipped for self catering with a small Belfast sink, fridge, electric cooker, microwave and table with chairs for romantic suppers.
  • Stairs take you up to...
  • Double bedroom which also has original oak floorboards, chest of drawers and cupboard.
  • Bathroom with hand-held shower attachment on the roll-top bath which is just perfect for a long soak at the end of the day.

Outside: The courtyard garden with outdoor furniture is a lovely little sun-trap for an alfresco meal or a few lazy hours reading a good book. It can also be used to securely store bikes (there is a hosepipe in the courtyard for washing down muddy bikes). There is also a bench at the front of the house where you can sit amongst the roses and clematis in the warmer months and watch the comings and goings of local life.

Additional information: Week long bookings available all year round (sorry but no short breaks). Unfortunately no children and no pets. Prices include heating, electricity, bed linen and towels. Strictly no smoking. WiFi internet access available.
