Blacksmith’s Cottage is the perfect romantic 'bolt-hole' for two and is a fine example of a beautifully converted historic building right in the heart of Lavenham, one of Suffolk's most popular wool towns. Offering a wonderful blend of period features and modern day comforts, this former blacksmiths workshop is heavily endowed with beams, and has special features that are sure to impress including a fabulous copper double-ended free standing bath.
Lavenham is the perfect choice for those who want to enjoy a true Suffolk experience on their holiday. One of the country's finest medieval villages, the local architecture is simply jaw dropping with magnificent buildings heavily clad with beams providing home to independent shops and galleries to browse, pubs and restaurants for a meal out, a museum, tea rooms and even a spa for a little pampering. A truly captivating setting, Lavenham has a long and interesting history and local guided tours can be booked in the Tourist Information Centre just a short stroll from the cottage. There is also an app you can download which allows you to take an audible self-guided tour.
Sandwiched between the market town of Bury St Edmunds and Sudbury, Lavenham is a good base for exploring the whole of Suffolk. Visit nearby Long Melford (just seven miles away and famed for being the film set for Lovejoy) and spend the day browsing the antique shops, Melford Hall and Kentwell Hall (a fabulous moated Tudor mansion). The ancient village of Clare is also worth a visit (twelve miles away), as is the picturesque village of Cavendish with its excellent pub for lunch (The George). Enjoy a day at Newmarket races, or head to the coast and visit Aldeburgh, Ipswich Marina, Orford and Snape Maltings - all approximately an hour away by car.
Alternatively, simply stay put and enjoy one of Suffolk's most beautiful settings, Lavenham.
