Antonine Wall Cottages are aptly named after the Antonine Wall which is right on the doorstep. Sleeping four guests in each cottage, Hayloft and Doocot both have two bedrooms and their own private hot tub, making them ideal for booking individually for a family holiday or weekend away with friends, or together for larger groups. There is also a swimming pool which may be available to hire, located in the conservatory within the garden of the owner's large rental mansion house on the same site (see separate advert for Bonnyside House).
Perfectly located centrally within Scotland, the cottages sit in Stirlingshire and under twenty miles from both Scotland's vibrant capital Edinburgh, and Glasgow. Stirling's city centre and the town of Falkirk are closer still and just a ten minute drive, making the cottages accessible and within easy reach of an abundance of attractions.
Two major attractions are right on the doorstep. The Antonine Wall is a World Heritage Site and whilst it may be smaller than Hadrian's wall, it's every bit as impressive and steeped in history being built some two thousands years back by the Romans. Spend your days exploring the miles of superb walks it offers today, then bubble your aches away in the hot tub when you return back to the cottage. The Falkirk Wheel is every bit as impressive from a modern day perspective and possibly one of the country's most significant attractions that draws visitors all year round. The only boat lift in the world, the Falkirk Wheel links the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal in a simply jaw dropping fashion - right on the doorstep, it is worth a stay at Antonine Wall Cottages if only just to see this incredible attraction!
Amidst lovely Scottish countryside, there is an abundance of wildlife to see locally (you may even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of deer in the nearby fields) and the little ones are sure to love the outdoor play area with plenty to keep them occupied whilst the adults relax in the sunshine. Stroll just five minutes and enjoy a picnic by the loch or bring your bikes and explore the canal tow paths. The choices are endless!
