About The Dairy

The Dairy is a delightful, period holiday cottage that can accommodate three people (plus a cot) in two bedrooms. Formerly a 17th century farm dairy, it has been carefully renovated to provide comfortable holiday accommodation whilst retaining lovely original features including beams, doors and exposed stone.

With  thick stone walls and full gas central heating, the Dairy is cosy during the winter yet cool in the summer. Entirely self contained, The Dairy is attached to the owners’ home, which was a traditional Somerset farmhouse. The holiday cottage is ideal for families, friends, or couples looking for a peaceful retreat.

Situated away from main roads, The Dairy is surrounded by beautiful scenery. It is just a minute's walk into the heart of the ancient stone-walled village of Westbury-sub-Mendip. where there is a village shop for groceries and the village inn offers good food and ale. The village is located within easy reach of Cheddar, Wells, Glastonbury and the coast, with plenty of interesting places and attractions to visit.

The Mendip hills above us are designated a National Nature Reserve. The limestone crags offer spectacular views of the coast, wonderful walks, gorges and caves and are a haven for bird and wildlife. The Somerset Levels below us are a fascinating, flat wetland full of wildlife and willows.

Walkers and cyclists are spoilt for choice with a range of interesting routes, including the newly refurbished Strawberry line runs through the village. This provides a safe route to Wells, initially completely off road then on quiet lanes.   Golfers will enjoy the 18-hole parkland course at Wells.

A warm welcome awaits you at The Dairy and the owners Cathy and Will are next door and are happy if needed to suggest places to visit, to ensure you discover the hidden gems that this beautiful part of Somerset has to offer.
