Tyddyn Mawr Farmhouse - Barmouth, Gwynedd, Snowdonia, Wales - Sleeps 6
Sleeping up to six guests, Tyddyn Mawr Farmhouse enjoys a coastal position near the beach just three miles from the Welsh seaside town of Barmouth. Nestling within the Snowdonia National Park, guests have the best of both worlds with beautiful sandy beaches for lazy days and a host of outdoor activities, whether you enjoy water sports, walking, mountain biking or adrenaline based adventures.
With splendid views, the farmhouse is a good base for families and friends to explore the many attractions of Snowdonia. The Mawddach Estuary has always been a major draw for visitors to the area with its hills that encapsulate the estuary, once providing wealth from gold, copper and slate mining, and today offering endless opportunities for walkers, cyclists and an abundance of bird and wildlife. Barmouth sits at the mouth of the Mawddach Estuary and has golden sandy beaches (complete with donkey rides!), a pretty harbour, Shipwreck and Life Boat museums, a promenade for a stroll and a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants.
Portmeirion Italianate Village is another of the areas popular attractions and just eighteen miles away, or for an underground adventure (perfect for inclement days!), head to Llanfair Slate Caves at Harlech or Llechwedd Caverns near Blaenau Ffestiniog. The area is much loved amongst train enthusiasts with the Ffestiniog Railway, the Bala Lake Railway and the Talyllyn Narrow-gauge Railway being amongst the favourites for a nostalgic trip.
Fishermen have good opportunities in the tributaries of the Mawddach Estuary, golfers can have a game at Royal St David's course (seven miles away), and great cycling and walking can be enjoyed straight from the front door. The choices are endless whether you want to relax by the sea or get active in Snowdonia.
