Perfectly placed for mountain bikers, the cottage is located on the outskirts of the small Welsh village of Trawsfynydd in Gwynedd with one of the countries top bike trail centres within easy reach (Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park is only six miles away). The heart of the village is only a half mile walk and Trawsfyndd is well known for its huge lake that offers a great choice of activities including fishing (both course and game), walking, kayaking, cycling and boating (boat, bike and kayak hire are available at the centre). Why not bring your bike or hire one and explore the eight mile cycle trail around the lake shore? For those who want to make a day of it, visit the lakeside cafe before you get started and have a hearty breakfast - they come highly recommended! The lake is not only popular with outdoor enthusiasts and families but also wildlife with Osprey visiting regularly in hope of catching a trout!
Trawsfynydd Lake is part of a huge tourism project and is one of four activity centres of excellence in South Snowdonia (the others are in Bala, Blaneau Ffestiniog and Coed y Brenin Forest Park with the latter two being within easy reach for a day trip out).
The area also has much to offer for those who want a day off from activities. Why not visit the beautiful coastline and enjoy a day recharging your batteries on the golden sands. The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway is another popular attraction and an ideal way of exploring the scenery on the fourteen mile route from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog at a leisurely pace.
Whether you want to explore Snowdonia or get away with friends for an activity holiday, Ty Llwyd Cottage is a superb choice and offers a comfortable retreat at any time of the year that won't break the bank!
