About Twll y Cae

Twll y Cae is ideally located for exploring the stunning Llyn Peninsula and Snowdonia National Park, and is within easy reach of Porthmadog, Portmeirion and Criccieth. The traditional Welsh cottage is set back from a quiet lane in Pentrefelin, surrounded by flowering gardens. There is space for up to five people to sleep in three bedrooms, so it is ideal for families, friends, or couples who appreciate the extra space. The owners have thought of everything to ensure their guests have a comfortable stay in any season.

Pentrefelin is a tiny village between Porthmadog (2 miles) and Criccieth (3 miles), only a five-minute drive from each town where there is a variety of places to eat, drink and shop. Porthmadog is known for being on the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway and the West Highland Heritage Railway. Both trains offer a relaxing way to journey through spectacular scenery. Porthmadog Harbour is busy with sailing boats, and sitting on the harbour wall with an ice cream or a parcel of fish and chips (or both, if you're peckish!) is a lovely way to pass an hour or two. Criccieth is a pretty seaside resort town with two beaches, a medieval castle and plenty of cafes, pubs, restaurants and a mainline train station on the Cambrian Railway line to Birmingham.

Guests staying at Twll y Cae can easily explore on foot or by bike as there are beautiful footpaths and cycling routes from the door. There's also a local bus service that eliminates the need to use the car every day. Guests can go mountain biking on bridleways and specially built trails like those at Coed y Brenin, walking around the coast or through the Carneddau, Glyderau and Rhinogau mountain ranges, play golf, go sea kayaking, climb rocks, or go fishing. Nearby attractions include Bounce Below, Zip World, the Snowdon Mountain Railway, Portmeirion village, and Caernarfon Castle.

A holiday in this part of West Wales is perfect for anyone in any season whether you want to be active or to laze on the beach or in the garden. The region is a paradise of birds and wildlife, with centuries of history and a unique culture that reflects the warmth and creativity of its people.
