With a range of adventurous activities, wonderful walks and bike rides and family friendly attractions on the doorstep, Swn yr Afon is perfectly located for anyone wanting to get out and about to explore the spectacular scenery within the Snowdonia National Park. Lace up your walking books to explore the local trails around the Tanygrisiau Reservoir or the Manod mountains, or head a little further afield to the impressive peak of Mount Snowdon. Mountain bikers will be spoilt for choice with the fantastic downhill tracks and trails two miles away at Antur Stiniog or head to the infamous trails at Coed y Brenin. Other day trips include visiting the famous Italianiate village of Portmeirion, testing your metal at Zip World Titan and Bounce Below or take a tour deep underground into Llechwedd’s mine. For those who can't resist a trip to the seaside, the stunning beaches at Harlech and Black Rock Sands are less than half an hour away and there are several CADW heritage sites waiting to be explored.
There are a good range of amenities close by including a village pub and shop within a twenty minute walk, or The Lakeside café a two minute stroll away. Just a mile and a half away, the historic mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog has a good choice of places to eat, shops and pubs, as well as the award winning Ffestiniog Narrow Gauge Steam Railway. You can also go fishing in one of the local lakes or play golf in Betws-y-Coed or Porthmadog.
With bookings available all year round and short breaks available outside peak season, it is always a good time to visit Snowdonia. Swn yr Afon is one of four holiday cottages in the same terrace in Tanygrisiau. Please contact the owners to enquire about renting more than one cottage.
