Seren Wib sleeps two guests (there is room for a cot) and is the owner's much loved holiday cottage that sits in a simply breathtaking position in the hamlet of Rhyd in the very heart of Snowdonia National Park. Meaning 'shooting star' Seren Wib affords an elevated hillside position on the slopes of The Moelwyns and is a peaceful paradise with immense appeal for walkers and lovers of the great outdoors.
With stunning far-reaching views that encompass the surrounding majestic mountains and beyond to the coast, this cosy cottage is independent of the main house where the owners live (and are on hand to answer any questions) and is ideal for couples, singles and small families with a toddler in a travel cot. Well equipped, it offers a comfy welcoming retreat to return home to after a days walking or sightseeing (for those who can tear themselves away from the magical setting).
This beautiful part of North Wales offers a host of attractions providing great days out. Visit the famous Italianate village of Portmeirion only a few minutes drive away or for those seeking the cry of the gulls, Borth y Gest with its beautiful sands and hidden coves is also just fifteen minutes away by car; as is the bustling seaside town of Porthmadog which is renowned for its maritime history and the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway. The picturesque village of Beddgelert is also a fifteen minute drive where you can immerse yourself in culture and legend or enjoy a relaxing stroll around the beautiful gardens of Plas Brondanw, formerly the home of Clough Williams-Ellis, creator of Portmeirion. The world famous Glaslyn Ospreys are present in the valley below Rhyd, just a couple of miles away and have nested there in the summer months for the last 20 years.
A little further afield, but still within easy reach, you have the beautiful harbour town of Barmouth, the popular coastal resort of Llandudno with its Blue Flag beaches, National Trust's Penrhyn Castle and Plas yn Rhiw and Caernarfon Castle to name just a few.
Alternatively stay closer to home and enjoy the vast array of walks through the local mountain, lake and forests straight from the front door, take a nostalgic trip on the Ffestiniog Railway which stops at a nearby station, explore Cycle Route 82 and the Wales Coastal Path or enjoy afternoon tea after exploring the tree trail at Plas Tan y Bwlch - a fantastic destination for doing as much or as little as you want!
