About Penbryn Holidays, No. 3

Penbryn Holidays No 3 appeals to couples, families and friends with an adventurous soul. It sits above Barmouth town, accessed via a long flight of steps with stunning views over the beach and the water. The two-bedroom property comfortably sleeps up to four people - or five, if you use the extra trundle bed in the bunk room, and is child and pet friendly. Staying here puts you within walking distance of everything - the beach, shops, cafes and welcoming pubs like The Last Inn. It's perfect if you want a bucket and spade holiday by the seaside, for roaming through hills and mountains, or for sightseeing through some of the most spectacular landscape in Wales.

Welcome to Barmouth! Nestled between the coast and the mountains, this vibrant town has been a favourite holiday destination since the Victorians discovered its many charms over 150 years ago. It promotes itself as the place "where the mountains meet the sea", and it absolutely delivers on that promise. Barmouth is at the point where the Mawddach River empties into the Irish Sea, with both a beach and an estuary with the potential for kayaking and paddle-boarding as well as sandcastles and traditional seaside pastimes. Once you've had your fill of the coast, put your walking shoes on and head out along the Mawddach Trail (also suitable for cycling) which follows the estuary via an old railway line between Barmouth and Dolgellau.

The Cader Idris mountain range is within sight of Barmouth and it is only a short drive away. Within a 10 minute walk from the property you to get into the mountain range that is the backdrop to Barmouth town. It's a magnet for mountain bikers and hikers, with various trails to suit all abilities. The property is also on route to the Panorama Walk, the original Precipice Walk laid out by the Victorians and the New Precipice Walk with two degrees of difficulty (easy or challenging) depending on your preference. The Torrent Walk is a circular route along the River Clywedog and through a stroking gorge, while another local footpath climbs alongside the Arthog Falls. Penbryn is also just 5-minutes to Dinas Oleu, the first National Trust property.

Day trips can include going to the top of Snowdon either on foot or via the heritage Victorian train. Discover the decorative delights of Portmeirion, have fish and chips beside the harbour at Porthmadog, walk along the Wales Coast Path, marvel at castles like Harlech and Caernarfon, or take a boat trip into Cardigan Bay to see whales and dolphins. You can go climbing and caving in Snowdonia National Park, surfing on the Llyn Peninsula. Penbryn Holidays No 3 is available for holidays all year round.
