Once Upon a Tide is in a fantastic location on Marine Parade with incredible views over Barmouth Beach and the Mawddach Estuary. Bright, fresh and modern, the stylish first-floor apartment belies the age of the Victorian property which has been a feature of this popular seaside resort for well over a century. The layout is ideal for couples, families or friends. There is space for four people in two bedrooms, with the option of accommodating an additional child on a single sofa bed in the master bedroom. You'll be staying across the road from the beach and only a few minutes walk from shops, cafes and welcoming pubs like The Last Inn.
Barmouth is in mid-Wales, overlooking Cardigan Bay near the western border of Snowdonia National Park. The beautiful Blue Flag beach makes it a particular favourite with families in summer, but it's proximity to coast and mountains make it an excellent choice for a holiday at any time of the year. Stroll along the seafront promenade or, in summer, climb aboard the land train. Barmouth is called Abermaw in Welsh, meaning that it is at the mouth of the Mawddach Estuary which heads inland for eight miles from the coast. The Mawddach Trail is suitable for walking and cycling and is a favourite with locals and visitors for the beautiful views along its route between Barmouth and Dolgellau. The Panorama Walk passes the Victorian Panorama Gardens. The climb to the top is steep, but your efforts will be rewarded with breathtaking views of Barmouth Bridge, Cardigan Bay and the Cambrian Mountains.
Walkers and hikers revere this region for the wealth of walks, including those to the peak of Cader Idris. Drive north for an hour to reach the base of Snowdon, or stay closer to home and walk beside Arthog Falls, along the Torrent Walk or the Taith Ardudwy Way, or over the Barmouth Viaduct as part of the Precipice Walk. There is a path to suit every ability and level of energy.
Day trips can include a visit to Porthmadog Harbour or wandering around pretty Portmeirion village. Harlech and its magnificent castle are just 20-minutes from Barmouth, and the mountain bike trails at Coed-y-Brenin are about 10 minutes further. Get your thrills on the world's fastest zip line at Zip World in Blaenau Ffestiniog, where you can also enjoy the unique experience of Bounce Below - a slate cavern transformed into a subterranean trampoline network.
With the beach on the doorstep and spectacular views, you may be happy to stay close to the apartment and make the most of the fantastic seaside location.
