About Mur Crusto Bach

Mur Crusto Bach is a delightful detached holiday cottage in a tranquil location on a small organic fruit and vegetable farm. It is situated within easy driving distance of both the mountains of Snowdonia and the beautiful sandy beaches of the Llyn Peninsula. It is just six miles from Criccieth, and Pwllheli and eleven miles from Porthmadog. Mur Crusto Bach is beautifully furnished and is a true eco-cottage with its grid-connected photovoltaic solar panels, log burner, conservatory, underfloor heating, and thick insulation, which make it energy efficient and cosy, even in winter.

Accommodating four guests, Mur Crusto Bach is ideal for families wishing to explore the area and enjoy the beaches. Well away from the public road, it is excellent for children, with our friendly ducks and other animals. It is also popular with couples wanting to escape to a peaceful retreat in beautiful countryside. The spacious and comfortably-furnished conservatory gives you wonderful views over Cardigan Bay and the magnificent mountains to the east. It’s a perfect place to watch the evening sun colour the mountains. The stars at night are spectacular for there is little light pollution here.

There are wonderful walks nearby or you can enjoy an invigorating stroll along one of the many beaches. A cycle route passes the end of the drive and there are plenty of quiet country lanes, so bring your bikes. There are also public footpaths for walkers to enjoy, one of the best of these being to the famous St Cybi's Well, a mere fifteen minutes walk from the cottage. Walk on a further twenty minutes up through woods and fields and you reach the rocky summit of Garn Bentyrch, a hilltop Iron age fortress. Although only just over two hundred and twenty metres high, the views in all directions are the best in the area! For those who want to travel a little further afield, the fine castles of Harlech, Caernarfon and Criccieth are all within easy reach as are the famous Snowdon, Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland narrow gauge railways. If you like mountain walking, you have many to choose from and we can offer advice on routes if you wish.

Upstairs:

Downstairs:

  • The ground floor has underfloor heating, making it very energy-efficient. The living area has two reclining armchairs and a sofa. There's a 32" flatscreen television with a Roku streaming stick and, DVD player and a stereo radio/CD player. The centrepiece of the living room is the highly efficient wood-burning stove which can be used to 'top up' the underfloor heating on cool evenings.
  • Downstairs bedroom with full size double bed and underfloor heating.
  • Bathroom with bath, a Mira electric shower, WC, wash basin, shaving mirror and heated towel rail.
  • The kitchen is well equipped with the range of utensils you'd expect, along with a cooker, microwave, fridge and dishwasher.

  • Spacious conservatory with padded cane furniture and glorious views. Being fully double-glazed and timber framed, it picks up plenty of warmth on all but the coldest and dullest of days. You can sit here in the evening (four spotlights for reading or just enabling you to see clearly when you pour your drinks) and enjoy the sunset.

Outside: You have your own private grassed area outside with a patio, table and 4 chairs and a lovely private garden. There's ample parking space and room in the stables for your bikes.

Additional information: Children very welcome aged four years plus.

Access statement: The living accommodation and one of the bedrooms are located on the ground floor and may be suitable for guests with limited mobility as there are no steps either inside or outside the cottage. Please speak to the owner to discuss your personal requirements to ensure the cottage is suitable both inside and out.
