Glan Y Mor is a large seafront Snowdonia holiday home for friends and families, including those with dogs. The Victorian property has been updated to be suitable for 21st Century guests, with the addition of underfloor heating for winter holidays and sliding glass doors to the waterfront balcony to make the most of the uninterrupted water views. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms, a large open plan living area, and lots of fun extras like Netflix, BT TV and Sports channels, and a cocktail bar. Shops, bars, cafes and other Aberdovey amenities are all within a short walk of the door, making Glan Y Mor a desirable choice for a relaxing, stress-free holiday.
Aberdovey, or Aberdyfi in Welsh, is a friendly harbour town on the shores of the River Dyfi where it flows into Cardigan Bay ("aber" meaning mouth of the river" in Welsh). Although it's understandably most popular for a holiday in summer, there is plenty to see and do in all seasons. Go rowing, sailing, paddleboarding and kitesurfing at the Dovey Yacht Club, where the estuary is ideal for open water swimming. Alternatively, take an unforgettable refreshing plunge in the freshwater Tal y Llyn glacial lake at the base of Cadir Idris. Anglers can fish from the garden wall at Glan Y Mor, off the wooden jetty, Roman Road, or Trefeddian Beach north of the town, potentially putting flounder, bass, whiting, mullet and mackerel on the menu for dinner.
Snowdonia is known as a walker's paradise, and the area around Aberdovey is no exception. A four-mile route takes you above the town for spectacular panoramic views over Cardigan Bay and along the coast towards Borth and Aberystwyth, with other footpaths leading to The Blue Lake at Golwern Slate Quarry, the Bearded Lake and Happy Valley. As well as beautiful coastal and riverside walks, you also have good access to Dolgolch Falls near Tywyn and a choice of routes to the peak of Cader Idris. There are miles of mountain bike trails and bridleways in the Dyfi Valley and wider Snowdonia area, with climbing, abseiling, and caving easily accessible.
Local attractions include the Ynis-Hir Nature Reserve, heritage Talyllyn Railway, Osprey Wildlife Sanctuary on the Cors Dyfi Reserve, and the Corris Craft Centre. Machynlleth is only 10 miles or a 20-minute drive upriver from Aberdovey, with a good variety of places to eat, drink and shop as well as traditional markets and other fun events.
Glan Y Mor is available for holiday bookings all year round, with short breaks possible outside of peak season to allow you to escape for a few days of respite when you need it.
