Capel Mawr is a huge property with space for 11 guests in five sumptuous bedrooms. The duplex apartment is on the top two floors of a converted chapel in the centre of Criccieth, with a private entrance and a location within walking distance of shops, cafes and hospitable pubs like the relaxed and friendly Bryn Hir Arms. This seaside town is perfect for a fantastic holiday with your extended family or friends, and staying in Capel Mawr keeps you central to all of the fun.
Criccieth has everything you expect from a stylish seaside resort, except for the attitude. It's on the spectacular Llyn Peninsula which boasts breathtaking views in every season. With not one but two Blue Flag beaches, there's always space to stretch out and enjoy the sunshine. There's a long promenade along the coast, and a clifftop castle separates the beaches. A warming Gulf Stream current not only makes the temperature warmer than you might expect for Wales - so mild that some locals swim all year round - but it also attracts dolphins and porpoises.
The Llyn Peninsula is about to become your new favourite holiday destination. Beaches near Criccieth include Morfa Bychan, Black Rock Sands, Afon Wen, and Carreg Wen. Spend a day wandering around Portmeirion's colourful Italianate buildings, admire the might and majesty of Harlech Castle. The beaches on Llyn's southern coast like Criccieth - those facing Cardigan Bay - are typically calm and sheltered. Beaches on the north coast face the Irish Sea and are ideal for windsurfing, kite surfing and other adrenaline-fuelled watersports.
Staying in Criccieth means you're within easy reach of Snowdonia National Park, just over half an hour from the Snowdon Mountain Railway and close to breathtaking walks and exciting mountain bike trails. You can fish, play golf, kayak and sail, go horseriding or sit back in a seat on one of the vintage carriages of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway and enjoy the spectacular scenery that is characteristic of this part of Wales.
Capel Mawr is available all year round, with short breaks possible depending on availability. Even if you only have a few days to escape and spend time with your friends or family - maybe a weekend to celebrate a milestone birthday or an annual catch up over Christmas - you'll find a very warm welcome waiting for you.
