About Bwthyn Siabod Cottage

Bwthyn Siabod Cottage is a traditional holiday home in the Snowdonia village of Dolwyddelan, a few hundred metres from the castle and the foot of Moel Siabod. Whether you're planning an adventure-packed stay or a relaxing self-catering break, the newly refurbished property provides a beautiful place from which to see and do everything your heart desires. There is plenty of space for four people to sleep in two very comfortable bedrooms (one king and one twin), and the cottage is ideal for couples or families in all seasons. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking, but the Gwydyr pub is down the road, and Elen's Castle restaurant a five minute walk away.

You'll love the convenience of staying in Dolwyddelan. The location is handy for some of the best sights and attractions in Snowdonia. There is no risk of being bored with Zipworld Titan and the Antur Stiniog Bike Park ten minutes from the door. Add a mere five minutes to your journey to find yourself in Betws-y-Coed and Zipworld Fforest, while Surf Snowdonia and Bodnant Gardens are within half an hour. You're also close to Conwy and its magnificent medieval castle and walls, still as imposing as when constructed on the orders of Edward I in 1283.

There are miles of footpaths, bridleways and multi-use trails around Dolwyddelan. The hosts will provide you with information for a number of local walks in Dolwyddelan, taking in the fantastic views of the Afon Lledr and up to the castle. The castle walls may have crumbled but the views are as spectacular as they were centuries earlier, reaching as far as the Snowdon horseshoe. Visitors coming to scale Snowdon (called "Yr Wyddfa" in Welsh) can do so on foot, via the Victorian passenger train, or on a mountain bike. If choosing the latter between May and September, you'll need to go up before 10am or after 5pm.

Bwthyn Siabod Cottage is available for holiday bookings all year round. It's dog-friendly and child-friendly, though guests should be aware that the internal staircase is quite steep. A stairgate, highchair and travel cot are all available - please request these when booking.

Accommodation Comprises:

Bwthyn Siabod Cottage is a period property with modern comforts and fantastic views.

Downstairs:

  • Pine floorboards, stripped beams, and sash windows join leather sofas and a plush rug to create a warm, welcoming living room where you can relax and chat or watch TV. The downstairs layout has been opened up so the living room flows into the kitchen/diner maximising the space and creating a layout that suits 21st-century lifestyles.
  • Cupboards and countertops line two walls of the kitchen/diner, providing ample space for preparing meals and storing food and equipment. It's a charming space with soft colours and a solid pine dining table and chairs.
  • Laundry and cleaning facilities are neatly housed in the separate utility room.
  • Natural light fills the family bathroom where there is a shower over the bath, WC and a handbasin.

Upstairs:

  • Master bedroom furnished with a king-sized pine bed, an antique chest of drawers, bedside tables and reading lights. There is a deep windowsill and sash window, and a thick carpet for cosy warmth and comfort if you can drag yourself from under the handmade quilt on a winters morning.
  • Twin bedroom with two single beds separated by a bedside table with reading light.

Outside: The cottage has decking with patio furniture with a leafy outlook over the lawn and a picnic table. There is free parking on the street outside.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are provided. Smoking is not permitted. One well-behaved dog is welcome by arrangement. A travel cot can be provided but guests need to bring cot bedding.
