Rose Cottage sleeps up to four guests in two bedrooms and is a delightful, character holiday retreat, enjoying a rural position amongst rolling countryside on the Anglo/Welsh border. Nestling amongst meadow land close to the owners' farmhouse, Rose Cottage is well presented and provides a romantic retreat for couples and comfortable base for small families who want to explore Shropshire and its many attractions.
Offering all the right ingredients to relax and unwind, Rose Cottage is perfect for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of modern day life and recharge their batteries. Step out of the front door and roam the meadows on the farm; explore the surrounding footpaths through farm and woodland, or walk to the local pub for lunch or supper (just a mile away serving a good pint of local ale!). Alternatively, stay put and enjoy the peace and tranquility at Rose Cottage with a small enclosed garden with outdoor furniture for relaxing and BBQ for alfresco meals amongst the vast array of birds and wildlife.
For those who enjoy culture and shopping, the market town of Oswestry is just seven miles away and within easy driving distance, as are the towns of Shrewsbury and Chester with its magnificent Tudor architecture. There are also country houses and castles including National Trust's majestic medieval Powis Castle; Chirk Castle, Attingham Park and Erdigg Hall. Haughmond Abbey and Wroxter Roman City are also popular places to visit and managed by English Heritage.
The World Heritage Sites of Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Ironbridge with its array of museums are within easy driving distance. The area also offers plenty of opportunities for walkers with the Offas Dyke National Trail a stone's throw from Rose Cottage, as well as the Montgomery Canal for a sedate stroll alongside the water, paddle in a canoe or barge cruise (just a mile from the cottage). If adrenaline activities are more your thing, the local area offers the chance to go cart racing, white water rafting and laser / paint balling to add to the variety of things on offer for adults. There's also plenty to keep younger guests entertained with soft play venues, bowling, the popular Park Hall Countryside Experience, Techniquest and a trampoline arena to name but a few of the many opportunities for fun.
Slightly further afield but still within easy reach for a day trip out, the beautiful unspoilt Welsh coastline beckons and is within an hour and a half of the property, with a regular train service from Welshpool.
Whether you want to simply relax or get out and about exploring Shropshire, Rose Cottage provides a welcoming retreat at any time of the year.
